Have a Peek Into our Valentines day

This post may contain affiliate links

The time right now is 10:52 am on Valentine’s Day 2021. I am a real sucker for all things love and feel good and being able to relax around those you love. I’ve had a little peek at my emails and on Twitter already. Everything seems to mention Valentine’s Day but it is all also tinged with words like Coronavirus, lockdown, and pandemic.

It got me thinking that I should be really grateful and happy that I am alive and well to see this day as so many have not been this lucky.

So, let’s share a little of what we are up to, today for Valentine’s Day.

Our significant others happen to be our children and they are good children. They deserve to be showered with our love on the day and always. So we have put together some goodie bags for them.

Valentines Day bags and cards

You will be pleased to know that we have made the cards ourselves using paper from our craft supplies. I have watched quite a few card making videos. I watched so many that I became tired and then just resorted to making something simple. It’s the love and thoughts that count!

I got sent this lovely little pamper gift set recently. I have made sure to include at least one item from it into the Valentine’s Day gift bags for our loves. There is nothing there not to like.

In the bags, we’ve included things like chocolates, cookies, wax melts, and a reed diffuser.

The bags, by the way, will be rescued after the contents have been removed so that they can be reused year after year.

Food for today

Well, we already had our green juice (I wrote about it in this post), oatmeal porridge, and some papaya. I am really looking forward to my Sunday dinner which will be ready about just after midday. We are veering away from the usual Jamaican Sunday dinner of rice and peas with chicken.

Yesterday we had discussed that it’s been a long time since we had some good rich Jamaican curry chicken with plain white rice. We have run out of our favorite curry powder so we will have to make do with what we have.

I am really looking forward to it and hoping that it will be spicy. I know that it will be tasty as the meat has been marinated from last night and sitting in the fridge.

I am also looking forward to some steamed pakchoi on the side.

What for afters?

We haven’t received it yet but I know that our kids always give us some sort of chocolate (usually our favourite fruit and nut or something with coconut). I know I’ll be sitting and enjoying a bit of chocolate while I complete two writing tasks that I have to do.

Depending on how things unfold, we might make them each a large chocolate chip cookie. for in the evening. I know they will love that.

I’m sure there will be something worthy of watching on TV later. If not, I’ll go back to watching more DIY videos on Youtube. In my head, I will definitely be a big DIYer soon. Maybe the emphasis should be on the big! Lol

What do you have in store for Valentine’s day? Wishing you and yours a lovely one.

Not to spoil the mood but we do need to give a thought and prayer for those stuck at home with people who make them feel scared or at least uncomfortable.

Update:

It is now 4:30 pm on Valentine’s Day and so far the day has been a blast!

I’ve really enjoyed it.

Our kids seem to like what they got!

My curry chicken dinner was absolutely amazing.

A also got myself in gear and made us each a chocolate chip cookie that we had warm after dinner with some of my homemade grape nut ice cream.

I couldn’t have asked for a nicer day. Hope you’ve had a good day too.
