Intentionally Cosy!

This post may contain affiliate links

My sister and I were born in the sun-kissed tropical island of Jamaica. We do still love the warmth (even heat) and much prefer it over being cold. We do live here (in the UK) now. Rather than being complainers, we thought we should try to be intentional about accepting our fate and doing something about it. And by that I mean, doing something about the cold. What we have decided to do is to do whatever we can to embrace the cold and just be intentional about being cozy. So that is what we decided on this week and I will tell you how we got on.

Cozy Clothes

I don’t know about you but we treat our dressing gowns more like house clothes, especially in the winter months. We usually have at least 2 each and they do get worn a lot. Well I thought it was time we got ourselves some new ones to go with some cozy bed slippers we have acquired as Christmas gifts over the past few years. We bought some lovely new ones from Amazon. They looked the part, but they were a tad too tight (we didn’t want to be that cozy) So we returned them as they didn’t do bigger sizes in those particular ones.

We opted to get the ones we had stored in a suitcase for holidays in cold climes. There saving us some money. They are nice and warm too so that’s another plus.

We have never owned full length ‘dress’ coats and so we treated ourselves to a set too. Those are solely for church or any other formal occasion. We do not intend to take them off when we sit in church and so it will not really matter what we wear under them! (Oh the thought of that!) Lol. We will restrain ourselves of course.

Cozy Meals

Since we are mostly home and enjoy cooking, 95% of our meals are made by us from scratch with fresh ingredients. We do try to save money and energy by cooking and freezing or refrigerating meals for days to come. We have continued doing that throughout the week and have really enjoyed having some tasty soups we had in the freezer.

There is something really comforting about food especially food cooked the way it was cooked back home and especially if you are missing ‘back home’. So of course this week we enjoyed some cozy cooked meals reminiscent of our time in Jamaica. That’s being intentionally cozy.

The Decor

We are gradually getting rid of (well, putting away) Autumn decor and replacing them with ones more suitable for the upcoming Winter and of course, Christmas. Instead of choosing a day and go full-on Christmas decorating, we are just doing what we can whilst we are in the mood and already the house looks and feels cozy. The laundry room is finally finished too and so this week we decked it out with the stuff we bought for the space.

If you like us, dream of warmer times, be intentional about doing the best you can with what you have. Cozy up and dream of Spring. Not too long now (she says even though it is not even Winter yet!)

The weather was quite stormy around here yesterday with a lot of wind and a bit of rain. Whilst the dark clouds looked menacing, we got our soup and bread rolls made last week and got all cozy. Thankfully we believe in meal planning and always having some ready cooked food in the freezer.

Black Friday is today and we will pass up buying anything at all. There’s nothing we need although there are lots that we would want. How about you? Any deals today?

Anyway enjoy the weekend and the coming week and thanks again to Ann who allows us to join in with this linkie.

I think I am going to have to start wearing my dressing gown about the house. Our house isn’t that cold now but I hate putting the heating on when it’s just me in.
I love this time of year for the comfort food. We’ve had soup out of the freezer too this past week.
We put the Christmas decorations up this week and it makes me feel happy and it dies feel cosier in here. x

Unlike you lovely ladies, I’ve never even been anywhere hot, never mind lived there. Life in the UK has always been cold during the winter months and I’m well aware of how to stay cosy. Getting used to central heating has been something I’ve lived through, but these days with the increasing costs, lovely cosy clothes and blankets are much nicer and cheaper than expensive heating. x

Being intentionally cosy is a good way to deal with the cold. Snuggly dressing gowns are lovely in cold weather and your new coats sound lovely too. Glad that your laundry room is finished and you’re enjoying home-cooked meals that remind you of back home. #WotW
