Our Word of the Week is Boost

This post may contain affiliate links

We like reflecting on the week ending and trying to gather some highlights from it. In particular, we like to look out for the positives because we feel like that is a boost, and it also reminds us to count our blessings. So although negatives sometimes happen, there are always reasons to rejoice. Mind you, this week I reminded myself (in conversation with some friends) that sometimes our negative experiences help us to be able to guide, advise, or support someone going through the same thing later on.

Anyway, this week feels like I’ve had a boost, just some excellent vibes. It started on Sunday when, despite the torrential downpours of rain, we still met up with a group of women for a catch-up. It was a restaurant serving Indian cuisine. Most of us went for the brunch menu and one lady chose from the break fast menu. The fish was particularly good but the boost for me came from the conversations we had around the table. Listening to everyone share their experiences definitely made me think that we go through things so that we can empathize with others.

I love gatherings like this and I always come away feeling blessed and empowered. I learned of ways too that I can be of help to someone else.

Then in the evening when we got home we made a Fall (Autumn) style charcuterie board. On Instagram we found out about how to shape the Boursin cheese like a pumpkin and that’s what we did. It was good to not have to cook dinner on Sunday so that was a boost too. The cheese, fruits and crackers were just what we needed while relaxing and watching the telly.

That was cozy and nice.

This week we had our medical review at the doctor too and we both put on just over a pound following our Florida vacation. Not bad huh? Considering the mangoes etc that we had, we will take that. We now have to work to control it so it doesn’t get out of hand before our next holiday. If you have tips for that, please send them our way.

Speaking about boosts, who uses scent boosters? We used to use them to give the laundry a fresh smell. But since we’ve run out, I’ve been thinking about whether we really need them. You see, I’m always on the lookout for ways we can save money and not just buy unnecessary stuff. For a scent boost, please tell us what is your favourite fabric sotener/conditioner. We might give yours a try. We still use one and we tend to vary between the blue one (don’t even know the name) or this yellow one.

A tip for you is to use half the amount of fabric detergent you always use and see if you notice a difference. I’ve been doing that recently without telling my sister and guess what? She hasn’t even noticed! So there’s. a savings boost there for us and for you too! I suppose if you have really soiled laundry then you would need more. Although now thinking about it I suppose you could soak them overnight to loosen the dirt and then was as normal.

I have text reminders to book our Winter Flu jab and also the Covid jab in October which is just around the corner. Do you think we still need this boost? I am planning to get one next week and perhaps give it a week or two break before getting the other. I’m wondering if we still need them though. It might need some more thinking and praying about.

Here’s our first immune system booster for the season.

And my last good news boost for the day is that I found out that my previous employers owe me some money that was not paid years ago! So this week I spent the time looking for all my old contracts and other documents to prove my case. This should be a nice boost whenever they decide to pay it.

Well, here’s hoping that you had a good week, count your blessings and see that you have so much to be grateful for.

That is great that you feel like you have a had a boost. The meal out and catch up sounds like fantastic fun.
The charcuterie board looks fab and perfect for an evening in front of the TV.
I am using exactly the same washing powder and fabric conditioner as you at the moment. We always mix between the blue and yellow Comfort.
I took myself off the list for the Flu jab reminders as the 3 times that I have had it I was always really unwell. Since not having it I get the odd cold in the winter but nothing compared to when I had the flu jab.
Yay for the money from your previous employer! Good luck, I hope it is paid soon. x

It’s nice to get a boost every now and again. The charcuterie board looks delicious. I don’t tend to use fabric conditioner as I’m a sensitive soul and my skin doesn’t like it. I’ve never had a flu jab to be honest, I’ve never felt the need but that’s just me and it’s all about everyone’s own circumstances and preference. Yay for unexpected money! I hope you get them to pay it.

I love it when you get a boost. I use the same cleaning products but I don’t always use the fabric softener, only when I do woolly washes. That might save a little! Getting out with friends is always a boost, and nice treats are too. I have never had a flu jab, but I’ve only had flu once. I would still get the covid jab though, it’s still out there and if you’re offered then you should take it up. x

Glad you feel like you’ve had a boost this week. It is always good to look for the positives. Lovely to have a get-together with others and enjoy nice food and conversation. The autumn charcuterie board looks good. Hope you manage to get paid the money you’re owed from your previous employer. #WotW
