Quiet is our Word of the Week

This post may contain affiliate links

Although we were both back working this week, we agree that it has been a quiet week compared to our last hectic one. I mean, our trip to Stratford-Upon-Avon on the Friday was so good but by that time the post was already written and published. We got to see our friend who we call a Twincess, as her birthday is the same as ours and she is very similar to us in other ways too. The highlight of the visit was a trip to her local tip! They have a charity shop there where they sell things that people want to dispose of but that others would find quite useful. We managed to get about 7 or 8 white flower pots of varying sizes, a crossword puzzle, which we are into these days, and also some silicone covers for various sizes of containers. It was a good trip, although we only had 30 minutes there just before they closed.

We didn’t make it into the town as we had intended to because the train we wanted to get back on was cancelled. Luckily, our friend had had a look when we got back from the tip, so we had to get an earlier train back.

One of the vases has made its way to the kitchen shelf. I love that the colours match. We plan to use the others when we pot plants for gifting to friends and neighbours.

Sunday morning was quite busy, not quiet at all! We had promised to make a Jamaican Sunday dinner for two families in our community. We got up very early and made at least six dishes which were all done, boxed and delivered by midday. We were shattered after that and didn’t do much but laze around on the sofa. It didn’t help that it was a very hot day too. Thankfully, we made enough for Tuesday’s dinner too. Among the dishes was a lovely mac and cheese that I was trying for the 3rd time. It’s a recipe from a TikTok content creator called Tiny. It’s so good, and served well as part of lunch at work too.

Monday saw the start of a new work week, which was fairly quiet. There were a few frustrating bits, but we’ve agreed that it’s not always like this, so better not grumble too much. As the week went on, things got a little more hectic for us, but hey, its a long weekend coming up.

We are linking up with Anne and hope you all enjoy the long weekend. That’s when we plan to tackle the board and batten in the kitchen. Oh, that reminds me… we got the MDF pieces measured and cut. So just to mount and paint now. It will be a rather quiet weekend for us too..

PS just want to say congrats to all the young people who got the results they worked for in their major exams. I’ve seen some beautiful ones on social media.

Sometimes a quiet week is just what you need.
You picked up some great things from the charity shop. I love that jigsaw, I’ve not done a circular one for ages.
That was very kind of you to make dinner for those families. I hope they really enjoyed it.
    Wishing you a peaceful weekend.

It sounds like a fab trip to Stratford-Upon-Avon and how lovely to see your friend. I love a tip shop! One persons junk is another’s treasure.
Your kitchen shelf is so cute and how kind to cook a Jamaican Sunday dinner for the families. I bet they loved it!

Hi there. I popping in from Raisie Bay. I love a QUIET week. I love that even in the midst of doing you also found it quiet. I love that. I also want to say…I love puzzles and that one you have pictured would be something I would love to do. I have one spread out on my dining table right now. Blessings.

Sometimes a quiet week is what you need. I’m glad you spotted the train delays in time. I love that the tip has a little shop. That reminds me, I need a trip to my tip. We have some big MDF cupboards to get rid of, I hate the waste but they just aren’t salvageable (maybe once upon a time when I was well) And my daughters are desperate for some extra room in their bedroom. I’m sorry the return to work wasn’t so quiet, but I hope things go well from now on. And well done on all the cooking!

Glad you had a quieter week and enjoyed your trip into Stratford-upon-Avon. I like the term “twincess” to describe your friend who has the same birthday. Funnily enough, I visited a friend this weekend who also has the same birthday as me and my twin. How lovely to make a Jamaican Sunday dinner for two families in your community. Hope you enjoyed the long weekend. #WotW

What’s in a Jamaican Sunday Lunch? How lovely to make one for your neighbours. I love your kitchen shelf, all our kitchen stuff is stuck behind cupboard doors. #wotw
