Ready is our Word of the Week

This post may contain affiliate links

You know when you’ve been away on holiday and it’s time to head back home? This is how we are feeling now. We are definitely ready for home. We still have more choices on our things to see and do list but there will always be more times. I am ready. I also wonder if our mom feels this way, like she is ready for her space back, to have her apartment back to herself and her things where she had them etc. Next week’s post will be published in the UK and we will be reminiscing on the lovely time we had here.

I imagine that home will feel a little strange but we are still ready for it. I go back to work just after the bank holiday so bring it on. I have definitely missed work. I hear that it has been quiet, not that I’m the noisy one, lol.

This week we have spent a lot of our time making purchases for friends and family and ticking off items off our list. As usual, I find it hard to spend money on myself as I think the items sound too expensive. Yet I spend the same amount and more on items for others. Is anyone else like that? For example, I’ve been hearing about these awesome Flair pens on TikTok so I promised I would get myself some. When I saw them in Walmart I thought, ‘No way! They are too expensive.’  So I took up some cheaper pens and I’m now thinking that they might not even work!

We bought ourselves the Arctic Air Pocket Chill handheld fans. I know we won’t use it much in the UK but we will have them for our next tropical weather holiday which is coming up before you know it! We saw a lady with one of the fans and asked her about it. It felt like an air conditioner was turned onto my face. It uses a little water and has three speed settings. We are looking forward to the next holiday now.

I like that we can use our phone charger to recharge it. I’ve already lost the little cord for the previous handheld fan I bought so there!

I’m not sure if Irish Spring bath soaps are sold in the UK. But it’s been a tradition of ours to always buy Irish Spring soaps when we visit the US. Well this time, Mommy already had them for us so we didn’t have to buy them. We don’t use bar soaps unless we are on holiday as we don’t like the grease build up in the shower. The smell brings back so many memories of our childhood and anyone who got to travel to the US from Jamaica almost always come back with some Irish Spring soap. Mommy usually send us the liquid ones even now so I am sure before the year is out, the post will have some for us.

We’ve been getting ready for our return trip too by getting our hair done. Our three other sisters came up to spend some time on Monday and as we were all cooking, doing hair, chatting, and laughing, Mommy didn’t get her usual daytime nap. We told her that it was impossible as she had the pleasure of the company of her five daughters with her all in the same place. After all, we all live in three different countries so it’s not often that we all get to meet up together. I’m going to miss meet-ups like this too.

Our suitcases are packed and ready for us. Hopefully they won’t be too bulky and heavy and cost us in overweight charges. As usual, we have had to launder and pack away some of our stuff here until the next time we visit. We now have 2 suitcases of stuff so we don’t need to take back with us. Things like pyjamas, house clothes, summer wear, towels and sandals will always be here whenever we come back. We won’t need to pack those the next time we are coming and that is one of the perks of having our mom living in Florida.

Leisa has taken cuttings of little plants that she wants to try back at home in England and has started them off so they’ll be ready and easy to grow when we get there. Watch this space for updates on that.

So yes, we are ready and waiting to come back home. It has been a good five weeks and thank goodness, my plantar fasciitis seems to be easing. So hopefully I am over the worst of the pain. We still haven’t made up our minds yet if we will go for wheelchair access again. We will wait and see when the time comes.

Hoping you’ve had a good week too.

I hope you have had a safe trip home. It does sound like you have had a lovely break away.
I always find it hard to spend money on myself too. I hope the pens do work.
Those fans look and sound amazing but I have never heard of those soaps before.
I am sure your mom will miss you now you are back home. That is a great idea leaving some of your stuff there instead of bringing it home. x

I’ve never heard of those soaps. We nearly bought some hand fans yesterday but we know that summer is nearly over here, be prepared for a shock when you get home….but then again, I think we had our 2 day summer somewhere during the five weeks you’ve been away! Safe journey home lovely ladies.

It’s nice to reach the point of being ready to come home when a holiday comes to an end. It sounds like you’ve had such a lovely time away though and enjoyed the time with your mom and your sisters. Nice for your mom to have time with all five daughters too – even if she did miss out on her daytime nap! Glad the plantar fasciitis is easing. Hope you have a safe trip home. #WotW

I really enjoyed your thoughts on “Ready” as the word of the week! It’s such a powerful mindset, and your perspective on staying prepared and open to opportunities was truly motivating. How do you personally stay “ready” when life throws unexpected challenges your way?
