Lovely is out Word of the Week

This post may contain affiliate links

We haven’t had a catch-up in two weeks. Nothing major has happened but we have been a bit busy and taken up with other things. Just life things. So in this post I’ll just share some updates and we hope to be back to our regularly scheduled Word of The Week post this Friday. Thanks to Anne for always allowing us to share and to you guys who always read our posts.

If you are wondering about the hole in the kitchen from the leak upstairs, the hole is patched but it still needs to be neatened and painted. We have told ourselves that there is no need being upset about it as that can’t fix things. Hopefully this week, someone will come to neaten the patch and paint it. We were blessed in that the men who fixed the leak upstairs and put the patch in the kitchen ceiling didn’t charge too much (we are always mindful that it could be so much worse.

We still don’t have a lawn mower yet but we got someone to do both the back and front gardens. Leisa has deadheaded some of what the squirrels have left behind so the back looks a bit neater now. We managed to reap another lot of tomatoes and we still have some left for another harvest. We would definitely do them again next year, so we have saved some of the seeds.

A friend who we met about a year ago, had her sisters visiting from Angulla. They are nice ladies and we have spent time with them at church and then last Sunday we spent the day taking them out to do some shopping etc. It’s so nice to meet new people in our age group. We have to listen carefully though and sometimes ask them to speak slower as their accent is quite deep. We have been having some good laughs.

Work was stressful the first week back to school in September but things have mostly settled now. I’m not really looking forward to the dark days coming up, especially on the days I’ll be working until 5:30 PM!

Oh, American Airlines are still messing us about and we still have had no compensation, even for the extra legroom that we paid for and never got. They sent an email yesterday asking me to send in whatever receipts I have so that was done today. I will keep you posted.

Sleep pattern is improving and we have sometimes had a nice cup of camomile tea before bed. It soothes us nicely but the problem is that after that cuppa, it’s impossible to sleep through the night without needing to use the toilet! No remedy for that yet. Maybe adult disposable diapers?

We have had some good sunny weather days and we have managed to get our two living room rugs power washed and dried in one day! What a blessing. I’ve just put my own bedroom rug in the machine to wash so hopefully with tomorrow’s weather predicted to be a high of 19, I’m hoping to get it dried and put back in place tomorrow too.

One of the girls found this ladder thing for decor pieces in one of the shops and set it up in her apartment. I can’t wait to see how she styles it. We’ve done our Fall decorating already so each room has a little tough. We weren’t able to go with the full white like we wanted to as we didn’t find a lot of what we wanted.

Today we went out with the girls and had a look around shops like B and M, TK Max, Dunelm and so on. We then went out for lunch so no cooking today. Although, Leisa did cook this morning for a lady that’s been under the weather. When Leisa first came to England, that lady was very welcoming and helpful to her. Now that the lady is more elderly and frail, the blessings are being returned. Well, that’s how I like to think of it.

Although nothing major happened, we still want to think of our last two weeks as lovely.

This video sums up last weekend. Hope you enjoy watching. We got a nice little piece to add to our Autumn decor. We also hope you have a lovely week ahead too.

I’m glad your kitchen ceiling is almost sorted out, that would stress me out completely. I hope things settle down for you now and you have no more worries, a lovely weekend is just what you needed.

I am glad you got the hole patched up in your kitchen!
We still have tomatoes on our plants, I really need to pick them.
I imagine the start back at work being stressful, things are always crazy at schools at this time of year.
Good luck with getting some compensation from the airline. If you paid for something you should at least be entitled to that back. x
