As I am writing this, I am going against what I had said in that we were going to take a little break from vlogging and blogging. But then I remember that we will have all my blogs and vlogs to look back on as we grow older. So last week we were on a break and didn’t do a blog post. That doesn’t mean we haven’t been busy. We have been, just at a slower pace.
It’s been really good to just relax and stress about nothing. Just this morning we were saying how lovely it is on a Sunday morning to wake up at whatever time we want to, and do whatever we want to. No husbands who expect dutiful domesticated wives (while they read the newspaper), no little children to make meals for and prepare stuff for going back to school, no Sunday job, and no books to mark and clothes to get ready for going back to the classroom. We have spent enough years doing all of those, we think. So it’s now time to fill our days with just what we want to do.

We made a lovely hotpot one day, for just the two of us, right in the middle of the dining table. It had everything we liked. The only thing was that the Korean hotpot base we used was way too spicy for us. We could have done with just the gochijuang paste. It was also a bit greasy, so we had to remove the cube before it totally dissolved and remove some of the fat from the top. The flavors and textures were amazing, though.

A ten-minute step out into the garden to do some odd jobs or just to soak up some sunshine every now and again was well worth it. It was so refreshing, the amount of sunshine we have had recently.

Feeling the sunshine on our skin has been special. There’s just no other way to describe it. It is a real mood boost for us, and we look forward to this time of the year. We continue to look forward to realising our dream of spending at least 4 months back home each year.
We have even started to break off flowers like peonies for indoors. Our vases in every room have been filled with odd bits of twigs and flowers brought in from outside.
Church has been good too and we had some visitors come to our home. It was quite refreshing to sit and chat for well over an hour. We were also able to talk about things that would make church life more meaningful and enjoyable. We all have to play our part, though.

The pantry and has had a major makeover (over days) and we love its new look and functionality. We also bought a few items from Shein to better sort out the cutlery drawers. We will have to get used to how they are now as we’ve changed those up too. When I searched on Amazon for the organisation bits I needed for the drawers, they came to £47. Luckily, I went on Shein, put the same items in my basket, and purchased them for only £27. So we’ve saved some money there. It’s not frivolous spending as we really needed the drawers to be sorted some time now. We have a lot of little tools and gadgets that we don’t use often but that we didn’t want to get rid of. Everything is now organised into different categories and are much easier to find. We did have to many measuring cups so some of those will be going to the charity shop soon.
We hope you have had a good break these past few days too and we look forward to hearing what you get up to when you take a break. Until next time, from our blog/journal, cheers, from Jo and Leisa.

It sounds really relaxing. I wish I had just myself to look after sometimes, I feel a sense of dread coming up around an hour before dinner, even if the others are cooking, or it’s all planned out. Having six of us it’s never easy and never goes to plan. I get a lot of help but you know the old saying ‘too many cooks’ well it’s a nightmare. on a brighter night, I love Gochujang and we are having it tonight with tofu and rice.

Having a slower pace of life and a break from things sounds lovely. I’m so glad that you’re enjoying it. So nice to sit in the garden and soak up the sunshine. Your garden is looking beautiful. Nice to be organised in the kitchen too and save some money too on finding what you needed. #WotW
Lovely photos of you both, ladies! It sounds like the warm sunshine has done you a world of good.
