Our Word of the Week is Win

This post may contain affiliate links

My word for this week is closely related to the last three or so weeks. We really love the opportunity to look back and see how things have been and just find a word to sum it up. I have struggled a bit to find a word and I always want to make it positive. Who knows, one day we might have a really rubbish week to report on.

On Sunday we went to Costco and spent too much. We got a lot of what we needed but also a lot of what we would generally not be putting on a shopping list. Does this happen to anyone else? Our biggest win for the day at Costco was jackfruit! We have not had this amazing fruit in years so when we saw it, we didn’t hesitate to buy two tubs for £5 each! They had whole jackfruit too but it cost £50 for one. It would be a matter of buying it and hoping to be lucky. But the ones in the tub were clearly visible and they looked good… so good!

If you’ve never had jackfruit before, you really should try it.

On Sunday afternoon, we went out to an all-ladies social event and we had a blast. We ate food, chatted, played games and even danced! We were sweating by the end of it. I will definitely take it as a win for giving my heart a workout! We were both in pain on Monday. I mean even our faces hurt a bit from laughing so much.

My next win this week was on Wednesday when I went in to work. It’s so nice to actually see the people we work with and get to spend time with them in person, not just from Microsoft Teams. I also got to collect a monitor to use at home as I think it will help my eyesight and brain too. The job os going well and I want to say thanks to those of you who left really lovely comments about it. Most times I don’t respond to comments which is bad I know, but I always read them and look forward to reading them each week.

I scored another win too with £55 from using Topcashback to set up a new HSBC account. I keep telling people that Topcashback is one of the best money offer sites to use. With this account, I didn’t need to close another account in order to benefit from the offer. So it makes sense to create an account and start using it. Just click on Topcashback before doing your online shop.

The apartment we are working on is coming on really well and the flooring and painting were done on Thursday. Today the kitchen white goods will be installed and we can’t believe how different the place looks! Next week we will be sure to insert photos or the link to a video. We are really proud of this win.

This week too I made contact with a past student from my first teaching job as a young teacher in Jamaica! That has been so lovely and I was almost brought to tears when she said that the batch was asking about me! I have since been added to their Whatsapp group and I feel happy to be able to be in the company of the lovely young men and women they have turned out to be. I even have grandchildren and that too is a win. We have been having fun sharing photos, updates and doing some reminiscing. They even had a reunion one year when I was in Jamaica but I didn’t know about it. I suppose that was a loss for me.

By the way, I don’t know what is wrong with my brain but I could remember a lot of the girls but not the boys at all! But sssshhhhhhh, don’t tell them. lol

I was thinking today that we haven’t made a win regarding getting sponsored posts in quite a while! So if any of my blogging friends can help and point me in the direction of some going, we’d be really grateful.

One of the biggest wins this week is that my son who turned 25 on Tuesday of this week was successful in getting accepted on a course to start his Doctorate studies! He didn’t get into his first choice university but a win is a win and you never know how things will turn out. He has a choice of two and a few days to make the choice! EEk!

My dad used to take me to Costco and I always used to buy things that we didn’t really need. It’s so tempting though.
It sounds like you had a great Sunday afternoon. Those times when your face hurts from laughing are the best.
I have a TopCashBack account but I keep forgetting to use it. I think I am going to move it to my favourites at the top of my web browser so I remember.
Happy birthday to your son and well done to him getting accepted onto the course. x

Lovely wins! I really love Top Cashback I get so much from them. I’ll have a check with the sponsored posts as I’m sure I’ve been asked recently.

Win is such a nice word for the week. I’ve never tried jackfruit before. Hope you enjoyed it. The social event at church sounded like fun and glad things are going well with your job. Sounds like good progress is being made on the kitchen too. How lovely to be back in contact with some of the students from your first teaching job. Well done to your son on getting accepted on to the course for his Doctorate – good luck to him with making his choice and with his course. #WotW
