Willing Spring on: Word of the Week

This post may contain affiliate links

We are still in hibernating mode but we are willing Spring on. This week has been really cold for us and we haven’t ventured outside unless we needed to. On Sunday afternoon, we felt like we needed some chocolate so we donned our coats and walked to the nearby corner shop to get some. I spent a little over £3 and Leisa spent a little over £7 as she got some drinks too. I got myself a bag of roasted, salted, sunflower seeds which I have munched on all week. Every chance I got, I was munching on them and when I checked Google, they are said to be full of good micronutrients and healthy fats so hopefully my skin and hair will show it when we finally come out of hibernation. I was like those animals that hibernate during the winter. I wonder if they are willing Spring on too?

So yes, we both slipped at the start of the week in terms of our no-spend year! I felt a little guilty, but not much. It was just a one-off and I really enjoyed the walk too. Getting out of the house felt strange especially as we hate to be out in the cold. The shopkeeper wanted a chat too, but we weren’t in the mood for it so we rushed back home before we froze, lol.

Soup made it on to the meal plan two days this week and we love it. I could have soup every day and be happy.Don’t mention tomato soup though, I’ve never tasted a good one. We like hearty soup with meat, vegetables, and dumplings.

Speaking of hearty, we had another live cooking show this week and we made a Jamaican favourite, coconut dumplings. They were so yummy and filling. I wish we could have those more often too, but then again… no, because they are cooked in coconut milk which is fattening.

In willing Spring on, we have also started potting some plants, planting some seeds, particularly sweet pea, and also eyeing some beautiful bulbs and other flowers online. We’ve had a good feast of the eyes but will not be purchasing any plants nor flowers this year. We have a whole lot of seeds so we will make do with what we have. We may even organise a seed swap with friends.

Work was good this week too and we have a few weeks break before we have to go back to the office in town again. I was very happy for that announcement. Hopefully it will be warmer weather and Spring will be ever so close. Our daffodils and tulips have started showing so we are encouraged that soon we’ll be thawed enough to go into the garden and get some bits done.

How has your week been? Are you looking forward to Spring? We are joining with Anne again to share in the word of the week post. Yes, for us this week it’s a phrase, not a word.

Have a fab weekend.

I’ve been excited to spot signs of spring this past week, it will soon be here before we know it.
Don’t feel guilty about spending a little money on a treat for yourselves, this time of year you need little pick-me-ups to keep going.
Coconut dumplings sound amazing, if something contains coconut then I’m there for it.
    Have a lovely weekend.

Oh, I am the same. Willing spring to arrive soon! The sun has been shining but it has still been so cold.
At least you balanced the chocolate out with a healthy snack, the sunflower seeds sound great. I wouldn’t feel guilty about spending a little, it got you out the house for some fresh air. That’s a bonus!
Your soup sounds so good. I do like tomato soup but I agree one’s with meat and veg is much better. x

Hopefully not too long now before Spring is here. It’s nice to have a little treat now and then and you’re still doing well with your no-spend challenge overall. Those coconut dumplings look delicious. Lovely to be potting plants and seeing the daffodils and tulips starting to appear. #WotW
