Thanks so much if you left a lovely comment on my post last week. I really appreciate it and it does help my blog out. This week I’ve identified several areas in my home and work life that need an adjustment or two so this was my focus this week.
On Sunday I prepared my lunch for work for Monday as we were meant to be in the office. It was only a simple jerk chicken and cole slaw sandwich made from leftovers from dinner ( I’m still doing well on my no-spend plan). We were so pleased when work in the office was canceled due to the really cold weather. The sandwich served us well for supper and was nice. So, an adjustment needed to be made to my work bag which I had packed from Sunday morning with my laptop and other stuff for work. Can I just say that I enjoy working from home? I am most grateful for the flexibility it gives me.
My sleep pattern also needed an adjustment or two as I was waking up most nights for the toilet, and then I was finding it difficult to go back to sleep. I know too well the importance of enough sleep so I thought really well about what was causing me to be up at night. I concluded that I might be falling asleep too early (about 10 pm on average) and as a result, I needed to get up in the night to empty my bladder. So the adjustment for that was to go to sleep at 11 and have nothing to drink after 6 or 7 PM. I am very pleased to say that so far, it is working. It means that I only wake up at about 6 or 7 AM after 7 or 8 hours sleep, which is enough for me.
Following some x-rays that I did last year, the doctors have finally said I have early onset arthritis in both hips and also the lower spine. I wasn’t shocked. I had been having pain in my hips especially when I go up and down stairs. I’m sure if they check my knees they would find it too. They recommend physio for this so I have some recommended exercises to try. I know that stretching should help too so I have made an adjustment to my morning routine by adding some stretches first thing when I wake up.
Like I said I wasn’t shocked and neither am I worried. These things come with old age and I’m certainly getting there. Next year I’ll be 60 years old. Hard to believe I know, lol. I’m looking forward to a more relaxed life and still being of service to others. I think I will need to live in a bungalow so I might as well start looking around for one. What do you think?
I will have to make an adjustment by going through life without a dear friend of ours who died recently. He an elderly gentleman at church who is always so friendly and kind. When we have conversations with him, he’s always asked about our children and how they are doing. Not everyone is like that these days. So we will miss him a lot but have fond memories of our time together.
Thanks to Anne for allowing us to share in this linky.
Oh, this week I spent only £10 for an uber ride to get to our friend’s funeral. It was particularly icy and the cars were frozen. Also, we don’t like to drive too far, particularly if we don’t know the way.
Good luck with your adjustments.
How lovely to work from home when it was so cold out.
Sleep is so important and I am glad you are getting more of it.
So sorry about the arthritis, I hope the exercises help and I am sure a bungalow would make life easier.
I am so sorry about your friend. Sending love and hugs. x

I was told I have arthritis in my knees a couple of years ago and I am younger than you. Someone told me it has no respect for age. I am glad you got to work from home on a cold day. Sorry about your friend, it is so true that not many people are like that these days.
Making small adjustments can be very helpful and it sounds like they are working for you. I think I go to bed too early sometimes as I wake up really early and then can’t get back to sleep.
I think a bungalow would be a great idea with the arthritis diagnosis, it would be a lot easier for you mobility-wise.
I’m sorry to hear about your friend, he sounds like a lovely gentleman.
I’m so glad that you are sleeping better. I have had very few nights without having to go to the toilet, unfortunately, my medication means I have to drink a lot of water. I’m sorry to hear about the arthritis but it seems like you have a plan, I guess getting old isn’t much fun, I sometimes see people like Angela Rippon and Mary Berry and wonder how much pain they feel because they always look so fit and healthy. I know I’m getting old because my older kids are already suffering from aches and pains! A bungalow sounds like a great idea. I would love one. Many condolences for the loss of your friend from church.
Glad that the sleep pattern adjustments are working well and hope that the stretching helps with your hips. So sorry to hear about your friend from church. #WotW
