Autumn Fashion Loves

Fancy coming here to read about fashion! You might be in the wrong place but you might just be in for a little laugh. As Autumn isn’t my favourite season, (too cold), the basic fashion items I would consider are scarves, boots, gloves, and coats, so let’s talk about that.

As far as scarves are concerned, I like making my own crochet ones. I’ve learned how to do the C2C stitch from my sister Leisa. Since then I’ve made and even sold a few scarves and blankets using that stitch. I find them quite warm and cozy and I get to choose the colours I want to use. Being a frugal person, I also find inexpensive scarves for good prices in charity shops. You can really go to town with them! It’s also a good idea to donate them each year in favour of a different set the following year. Certainly, a nice way to change up the look. What do you think?

I love a warm, soft, and comfy boot in the winter. One with a little heel for church and other formal events, and one that actually hugs your feet and is flat, for all other occasions. It’s not nice being out with cold toes! And it’s also not fun to be wearing a high-heeled, uncomfortable boot. I know because this happened to me a few years ago when I had a meet-up in the USA with some of my friends from Jamaica. We all planned to wear pink on top, white trousers, and boots. We all looked great, but man, I did suffer in that boot all day. It wasn’t comfortable for me, and it also squeezed my little toes.

This is us at the US talk show The View. We had a good day but due to discomfort, my friend had to don the flat shoes she brought in her bag and I eventually had to buy a pair of sandals before we left for home. My favourite types of boots are this one here. They are warm, flat, and just give your feet a hug. I am at the age where I’d much rather be comfy than fashionable.

There’s nothing like having to be out in the cold and have your fingers freezing off. That pain is just unbearable for me. So gloves are a must on my list for Autumn fashion. But I don’t see the point of fingerless gloves, do you? In fact, my favourite gloves are the ones that keep your fingers warm but that also allow you to use a touch screen like your phone or the doctor’s log-in screen if you have to.

These here are plain and basic but they do what they are meant to. You also don’t want them to be too bulky. Just a suitable size to fit in your pockets or in your bag, even if it’s a small one.

Ok, on the matter of coats…

I know that Winter swiftly follows Autumn but I don’t think our coats should be drab and dull looking. They are, after all, almost a fashion statement in themselves as your fashionable outfits don’t really show when you have your coat on. For that reason, we hardly wear black coats. We tend to go for burgundy, orange (Fall/Autumn colour, right?), and beige. Browns and greens are nice colours for coats too. Don’t forget too, that you want motorists to be able to see you when you are out, so black isn’t a good choice in my opinion.

I do love scrarves and have a few knitted one’s, made by other people. I am hopefully getting a new pair of boots for my birthday next month. My old one’s I’ve had for years and they leak. You do look fabulous at the meet up. It’s a shame the boots were uncomfortable. I am all for comfort over fashion.
My perfect Autumn and Winter fashion would be thick, fleecy pj’s. hahaha If only that was acceptable. x
