Challenging is the Word Best Used to Describe This Week

This post may contain affiliate links

The last time we had a bad week, we used the word difficult to describe it. There were some difficulties this week, but I will give that word a break and use challenging this week. Thankfully, there was no airport involved like the last time, and also we haven’t got a hole in the kitchen ceiling anymore. If you are wondering what I’m on about, you must read about our difficult week here.

We spent all day Sunday washing, drying, and styling each others’ hair. I am really proud of us and the steps we have taken in this regard. It costs us much less to buy the hair products ourselves and just get on with it. We keep telling ourselves that we are not professionals so the hairstyles won’t be perfect but we give it our best shot and hopefully, it will get better each time. The most challenging part is the length of time it takes. As I said, it took us all day. We were up by 7 AM and finished after 7 PM! We are pleased with the outcome though.

On Monday morning I went for a walk and as I was near to the pharmacy and they had sent a text about offering the flu jab, I went it and got it done. Apart from the sore arm from the injection site, I was fine on Monday. The rest of the week got progressively challenging as a result of taking the jab though. Since Tuesday night I’ve been achy all over. I’ve had a slight sore throat and a few sniffles but generally, I have felt like I was in a tumble dryer and then spat out! On Tuesday night all I could manage was two and a half hours of sleep. And yes, I worked the next day. So, despite my recent post about ways to ensure you get a good night’s sleep, sometimes it is just out of your hands.

I thought it would be challenging to stay awake on Wednesday but I managed to work ok, except for the aches. Hopefully, next week will be better.

Another challenging time for us was watching Hurricane Milton in Florida and hoping that our friends and family would be kept safe. We kept in touch regularly and thankfully the only damage they had was that they lost their lovely fruit trees. We are thankful that that was the worst. So many others are facing some challenging months and years ahead. My sister was locked in at the hospital (she’s a nurse) and they had a few tornadoes there, but she reports minimal damage. I was torn about whether to keep YouTube of the events unfolding in Florida on the TV all night. It certainly didn’t help with my anxiety and lack of sleep.

They are now busy cutting down the trees so the local government folk can collect them. I’m sort of sad that we aren’t there. We could all pitch in to work and it wouldn’t be so challenging as there would be more of us to take on the jobs that need doing. But hey, they’re getting it done like the proper troopers they are.

To keep up her spirits, Leisa has started another crochet project too. I think it will be a blanket. No doubt that will get me in the mood to start a new one or to finish up one of the several that I’ve got going.

On a more positive note, we have Music Day at church this weekend and I am looking forward to it. And yes, we’ll be wearing our pretty autumn-themed frocks.

Enjoy the weekend and the week ahead too.

Wow, all day to do your hair, that is a challenge! I don’t know anyone in Florida but it must have been so worrying for all. I’m glad your family and friends got away with minimal damage. I’ve started crochet again this week, I’m thinking of making a poncho.

Good luck with the poncho. It would be nice to see it. I don’t think I’ve ever made anything wearable before. Oh yes, scarves.

Good on you’s for doing each others hair. I cut and dye my own and it saves me at least £80 every couple of months.
Oh no! Sorry you haven’t felt great after your flu jab.
I did think of you and your family when I was watching the news about Hurricane Milton. Thinking you were only there a little while ago. I ended up staying up the early hours watching live feeds of people waiting for the hurricane to make landfall. I was so scared for them.
Enjoy Music day at the church, I love your dresses, they really are autumn themed. x

Well done to you both on taking the time to style each other’s hair. Sorry to hear about the side effects of the flu jab – hope you are feeling better now. I’m glad that your friends and family were all safe during Hurricane Milton – that must have been a very worrying time for you all. Love your autumn-themed outfits. Hope this week will be a less challenging one. #WotW
