Expectant is our Word of the Week

This post may contain affiliate links

No, we are not expecting, as in babies. But we are certainly expectant about a number of things coming up on the calendar. It’s so nice to have things to look forward to and the promise of glorious weather makes us even more expectant too.

Holiday

This week saw us making more concrete plans for our holiday coming up. I’ve bought a book called The Girl on the Train and I’m quite looking forward to reading it.

It’s the winner of the 2016 Audie Award for Audiobook of the Year.

The snippet that I found says “Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She’s even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. ‘Jess and Jason’, she calls them. Their life – as she sees it – is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy.

And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough.

Now everything’s changed. Now Rachel has a chance to become a part of the lives she’s only watched from afar.

Now they’ll see; she’s much more than just the girl on the train.”

Exciting, isn’t it? So I really want to see what’s in store. We will actually get the train to our destination which should be good.

The big lunch

This year the Big Lunch is on Sunday, June 6. It’s a chance to plan something together with your neighbours to get to know each other a little better. We’ve only ever taken part once and it was a church event.

Leisa and I are planning to maybe put on a little BBQ with another neighbour. We might do it in the front and hope that others come around too. Hopefully, that will be good and something we are silently excited about.

Sunny weather

This morning we asked Alexa for the 7-day forecast and we couldn’t be more pleased with what we heard! I think the lowest temperature she said was 16 degrees celsius. Amazing! There’s just something about us and sunny weather.

We are hoping (expectant, even) that the good weather will carry on into the summer and we will be able to plan some day trips, etc. We heard that right now, on Megabus, you can find £1 tickets from Birmingham to London! I know that the demand will buoy the fare prices up, but still.

More easing of Lockdown measures

As lockdown measures continue to ease, we are so looking forward to going out and having some fun experiences that we have not been able to have for so many months. We ‘dipped our feet in the waters on Wednesday of this week for our regular Wednesday Day-Date that we feature on our YouTube channel. It was glorious! The sun was out, there was not any need to wear a coat nor multiple layers. We basked in the sunshine for most of the day and then had dine in lunch at one of our favourite restaurants – Nandos! I must say the food was on point! We definitely are expectant for more dates like this one. Bring on Summer!

What are you expectant for? Let us know in the comments. We are also looking for recommendations for lovely Air B and Bs because we really want to explore our country as we are not travelling abroad this year.

Until next week, take care.

Jo and Leisa

It’s lovely to have so much to look forward too. I loved The Girl on the Train, but I found the movie disappointing. I can’t wait for a bit of sunshine, we are planning a BBQ too.

Lovely to be able to get out more, enjoy normal things again and have holidays and other things to look forward to. I’m liking the weather forecast for the next week – the warm weather and sunshine is long overdue! I’ve not read The Girl on the Train but it sounds like a great book. Love the idea of the Big Lunch – hope all goes well with that. #WotW
