When God has another Plan
Most working people I know didn’t start off wanting to work with whatever it is that they do now, myself included. Growing up, I’ve changed my mind so many times about my lifetime ambition. From my earliest memory, I think I first started out saying I wanted to be an ‘air hostess’ because that was just the nicest sounding job then. I never even ventured in that direction nor even gave it a second thought when the time came to choose a career!
Is that the same with you? I bet it is! When I finished secondary school I just want to work. Work at what I don’t know but I just wanted to work. I thought I had had enough of school and wanted to try the work world. It was really hard and disappointing trying to find a job and in fact, I did not find any. Then I told my father I wanted to be a secretary because I liked typing. My dad had his own ideas for me and preferred that I did something that took more years of training and which would be more sustainable and earn me a better living. I was not pleased when he said this because I was headstrong with my view that I wanted to be a secretary.
What did you want to be? Not when you were very little and had those fairytale dreams. I mean when the time came for you to actually choose a career path, what was your first choice? Is it what you do now? I believe with all the best will in the world we desire certain things for ourselves. But God, who sees and knows all (including the beginning and the end), might have some other ideas for us.
God allows us choice so we are creatures of free will, but if we put our trust in God He will help us in making right choices. He will not force us but when we surrender all to Him, listen and obey His councils, He will come through for us. Sometimes we are not wise in our choices and He allows us. Being the gentle loving Father that He is, He will prompt us but He will never force us.
Have you ever been in a job that was hurting you in many ways? Deadlines you could not meet, poor work-life balance, colleagues whose ideas did not match up with yours, bossy bosses and never-ending ‘to do’ lists? I know I have! Have you stopped to think: God might just have another plan for you? I believe this because God does not want to see us suffering, broken, stressed, depressed or overwhelmed. So I was inspired by this song: ‘When God has Another Plan’. Do you know it? You can look for it on Youtube, play it over and over and then sing along as it ministers to you. He always has better things in store for us anyway.
Are you disappointed, lonely, depressed, and stuck in what seems like a time warp? God has better plans for us. In fact, in His Word, the Bible it says: For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future – Jeremiah 29 V 11.
What to do next? We have come to acknowledge that God has good plans for us. How do we access those plans? Well like I have said earlier, we have to let God take control of our all. I know as humans we sometimes feel we can manage on our own. We can’t! I agree it is hard to tell if we are to move on or stick with the job we have but if we bear in mind that God wishes good things for us deep in our hearts we will know.
Sometimes we have the tendency as well to hold tight what we have for fear of losing it. But I firmly believe that God wants desperately to bless us but we are just holding on to ‘the evil’ that we know so much so that we find it difficult to let go and let God.
I myself find it difficult too. My job has changed so much and sometimes I don’t like the way it makes me act and think and I think God must have another plan for me! At the same time, God expects us to use the brain He has blessed us with. So, for example, I know that I can’t just leave my job because I don’t like it. I must, with God’s guidance try to put plans in place for the transition from what I do now to the ‘other plan’ that God has for me.
God wants us to prosper and be in good health as our soul prospers so will you give Him a chance to show you His other plan? I will. Have an awesome week as you learn to let go and let God.

Thanks for that article. It really made my day. When God has another plan for your life then don’t fight it, just embrace it and give thanks. Sometimes we all need to exercise patients and stop holding on to what we think is right for us. Let go and let God.

Hi again Tia. Isn’t it amazing what God can do when we put Him in charge of our plans? It’s easy to think we can manage on our own, but in reality, we can’t. Thanks for popping by again.

Great post! I’m actually in this very phase myself. God has revealed to me the type of person I am when I was trying to be someone elae. Luckily, I was able to open my heart to God and believe the plans He has for me. Thanks for sharing!

He surely has better plans for us, but he wants us to let go as you said. It’s all about faith, without which it is impossible to please him.

That’s the spirit! Blessings

It’s so hard to trust when the plan changes. We just have to keep preaching to ourselves what we know to be true, that He is good.

Really nice article! I believe that sometimes situations that we feel will end us, they wind us being the start of something really amazing for us!

Thanks and I hope that we accept when things don’t go our way.

Waiting on God and listening to the spirit is truly difficult. I’ve found it’s worth the wait though.

OMG, I sooooo enjoyed reading this post. I can relate in many ways – God surely has plans for us but we hold on to the “evil” (as you put it) coz it’s familiar to us. I know I have to let go of some things but the thought makes me shiver, grrr. I’m not proud of myself for that but I know I’ll get there.
Great post. Well written and so true!

I think that’s life, we plan something and get something. Then we rearrange our plan. Because it’s life, it keeps changing.

This is a beautiful and insightful post. I’m as guilty as many other people in wanting to take the reigns to my life, but need to relax and allow God to have control. Thank you for reminding me to do this and allow the right path to unfold.

Wow….. this reminds me of my olden days….I wanted to serve in the army, when I was little. Over time, I “managed to see the light” on issues and settled for changing the world, one word at a time.
Thank you, Jol.

Unfortunately sometines whatever we do just turns around and bite us. But after some years when you look back you can actually see why it was even better that it didn’t work out

God’s plan and our plans is not the same. If we align with God’s plan will be the best at the end but initially it might be tough and at the end remains the best.
