Introducing a First Time Traveller’s Guide to Jamaica

This post may contain affiliate links

Jamaica is paradise!

It takes either someone with first-hand experience or someone who is good at bluffing to make such a bold, confident statement! Doesn’t it? Well, I’ve never been good at bluffing. What I’m sure proud of is that I’m a born and bred Jamaican. I’ve seen both sides: both as a local and as a tourist to that treasured destination that makes it near the top of thousands of people’s bucket list. My favourite place to stay outside of hotels is Mountaintop Villa in cool Mandeville!

So recently, when travel blogger and wanderlust enthusiast asked for a traveller’s guide to Jamaica, we felt not only honoured but pleasantly pumped to share with the readers what we feel are our expert secrets about the land of world-class athletes Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, and Shelly-Ann Frazer Pryce.

On our Youtube channel, we are always chatting with other Jamaicans, especially those living abroad. The things that we miss most are the things that tourists want to go there for. Things like the beach, the countryside, the way of life, the food, music, dance, and so on are well and truly amazing and missed.

You’ll find out some of the best sights to take in, the best foods to try (including jerk chicken, and also tips for getting around. We’ve even shared some of the local dialects with you. FYI, the dialect is called patois (pronounced patwa).

Of course, we shared a tip or two for staying safe. Not to worry, it’s the same tips that you’ll need for anywhere in the world your travels take you. Check out some of our chats.

Go on, check it out, enjoy the brilliant sunshine, subscribe to our channel for more, and do share the love.

Check out these Jamaican foods that are a must on your list of things to try.

Jamaican spiced bun

Ackee and saltfish

Coco bread and meatloaf

Jamaica is a premiere destination in the Caribbean. Every year, tourists visit this small island nation enjoying tropical weather and warm sandy beaches. I love the dialect too, so distinctive..
