My new favourite quotes

This post may contain affiliate links

Some days I wake up to a cheery hello from a friend who sends me one or two inspirational quotes against an appropriate and usually pretty background. I was usually grateful for them until I realised that they were all stored on my iphone (sometimes one particular one would come from several persons that day) so that I had run out of space and was having a hard time even taking a photo! I eventually had to delete them all (oh the heartache!)

So now I have decided to make my own and send them round the ‘blogosphere’ to be a blessing and encouragement to others. Pinterest is the perfect place to pin them to. Some of these (most of them) are based on my own personal experience and I hope they will be of benefit to you too.

open your hands to receive a blessingI know this to be a fact, absolutely, without a question- to be true. Take it from me, if it relates to a job, a relationship or a friendship, it is sometimes best to release what’s already in your hands and open up to receive something new, fresh and exciting. I finally realised this and gave up my teaching job! It was absolutley one of the best things I’ve done for my mental health and sanity.

joleisa.com(2)This quote reminds me of one I learnt as a teenager. It’s found in Romans 8:18 and it has always brought me hope when I am going through a rough time. Do you want to know what it says? Here goes: For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Is’nt that amazing? Whatever it is that you are going through now, it will not last forever! There will be an end point, so take heart. No storm has lasted forever and neither will yours. That’s a promise. Just today I visited with an elerly lady who was talking about how much stress she had been through in her life, and the fact that as soon as she got over something, there was something else! I told her my new favourite quote: No storm ever lasts forever!

This is one of my favourite inspirational quote from the bible. It has a paln and a promiseThis one is a favourite quote of mine too because it has a plan and a promise. It’s God’s plan and also His promise! Have you accepted that promise? It’s a promise that also holds us responsible though. We have to do our part to safeguard our health and our prosperity. So healthy eating is important and so is being prudent.

Be still and KnowWith this quote, I get PEACE! It reminds me that amidst the upheavals and tumblings of life, there is someone who is actually in charge, and He is saying, ” take it easy, don’t sweat it. I’ve got it and I’ve got you!” It also reminds me of a song we used to sing a lot when we were younger: ” The winds and the waves shall obey My will, peace be still, peace be still”. I hope the cool blue colour also brings you a sense of peace.

HappyThe Psalmist David said these words. He often found himself in the depths of despair, even sometimes in hiding as his enemy searched him out. But in the quiet times, he searched out for God and concluded: Thy mercy oh Lord is in the heavens, and Thy faithfullness unto the clouds. To me, this is simply put. We cannot fully understand God but we know when He extends His mercy to us, and this is every day. Just as you can’t tell how high the heaven is, that’s how much God’s mercy is.

this quote reminds me of a cheery song we sing at churchI’ve been writing this post of quotes over several days. Today, as I went for my walk, I found myself singing this cheery song that we usually sing at church. I think it’s called Joyful Joyful we adore Thee. It made me have a spring in my step and I was going at a reasonably good pace until I walked up to an elderly lady who was pulling one of those shopping trollies that elderly people usually take with them when they go shopping (BTW I’ve been known to carry one whenever I have a lot of shopping to do in the city centre, lol). When I said hello to her and tried to pass by, she struck up a conversation. So automatically the tune I was singing in my head stopped as she was telling me about the killing of police officers in Dallas. I hadnt turned on the news so I didnt know about it at all! I walked with her and we spoke about how good life was so why would people want to be killing each other off. Then I was reminded of the words of this other song: They will know we are christians by our love. When we parted company and I picked up the pace again I couldn’t help but think… a real christian police officer would never shoot another human being dead, but also that a true christian man would not shoot a police officer dead.

So although this post started off as one about inspirational quotes, it’s being ended on quite a sad note as I actually fight back tears. Tears because of the sadness and wickedness that is happening in our world. #blacklivesmatter but so do police lives! As human beings we are hurting, and hurt too much at the hands of each other.

Peace.
