As bloggers, we form valuable relationships every day. It really is a great community of people from different countries, different walks of life, ethnic backgrounds, age groups, and different niches.
We also go into blogging with the friends and family we have, hoping that they will support us on our journey.
The fact is that among our friends and blogging buddies, we will find support and help for our passion. From these same groups of people, we will also find people who, if you allow them, will cause your ‘boat’ to sink.
Mind you, I don’t think people are intentionally trying to ruin your blog. No, most people have good intentions.
Having been in this blogging business for over a year now, I have come to know who and what to look out for, for my blog to flourish.
I have shared both the positive and negative views as a guest post on I like to dabble
You will be intrigued to find out how your friends and family members score. I think you will find it hard not to identify with the points expressed there too. I also hope you will continue to nourish the right relationships for your blog to flourish.

I asked my preteen daughter something similar the other day about getting negative feedback. She said, “If it isn’t helpful, I just ignore it.”
I agree… most people have good intentions. But not all do.
Thanks for the post!
That’s my view too. Your daughter has it down pat.
this is a fab post ♥
Really great tips! You’ve got a new follower!
So true! I am always surprised at people’s reaction to finding out I have a blog. Some are instantly excited and can’t wait to support me and some react strangely and don’t know what to do with the information. I think there are some misconceptions out there about blogging. I assume they just don’t quite understand, but is a bit of a blow to the old ego! I usually don’t tell people for this reason. I find other bloggers and people who read them are much more positive and boy do I need that most days!
Thankfully we are not alone! As bloggers we are heavily reliant on each other.
I have had my blog for a little over 2 years now; and I still never really call myself a blogger not with a straight face anyway… where I come from the internet is expensive so blogging is “somewhat” considered an elitist hobby and nothing more….
When I first started I didn’t share my blog posts with anyone I knew family friend or acquaintance, the only support I got was a few kind words from strangers on the internet and that was enough to stop me from deleting my blog.
But if I have learnt anything it’s that you get what you give, when you reach out, something reaches back
