Our Delightful 7ft Christmas Tree

This post may contain affiliate links

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells…..Oh, I wish it could be Christmas every day….Santa Clause is coming to town. Those were some of the choice melodies that seemed to waft through the air as we entered the winter wonderland at GardenSite’s showroom to choose the Christmas tree that would be the centerpiece of our home for the Christmas season!

We usually have everything for Christmas planned by July!  Everything that is except for the tree. We were in awe at the sight of the range of products available at GardenSite.

From the moment we entered the showroom, it was obvious that we were in for a treat. There were so many unique, interesting decorative ornaments, trees of various sizes and colours, Christmas lights, and an array of other items the likes of which I have never seen before. We were truly lost in the wonder of it all. We really had to drag ourselves away before we purchased much more than we came to get.

So the helpful staff we met there pointed us in the direction we needed to be to source the tree. Here again, we were greeted with some really fine specimens. We had left home with really strict instructions from our daughter to get a 6 ft tree that looked like it had just been covered with snow. She had only conceded and settled on a 6ft one when we told her the 7 ft tree would definitely be too high for our house. Luckily GardenSite did have a 7ft tree that matched the specification on display and it did not seem too enormous so we asked if we could change our order to that one and without any fuss whatsoever, we were allowed to change.

The Christmas tree we chose is just stunning! Snow covered branches of the magnificent pine leaves, it mimics a snow-covered landscape really well and just puts us in the mood for a winter wonderland! So now we had the task of deciding on a colour scheme and particular decorations for the tree. It was so hard to choose! It was not helped by the fact that they had so many colours and variations for their decorations!

Well, it did help really because we took inspiration from one of their trees decorated with silver and white and decided that that would be how we would decorate ours. See ours below. We added a hint of red to go with the decor already in the room.

Our tree

Our boxed tree was deposited in the car by a helpful staff member (they do go out of their way to be helpful!). You’d think we would then drive away to go set up the tree, right? Wrong! We had to go back into the shop for some more inspiration and just to feast our eyes on this beautiful winter wonderland!

Honestly, I have never seen anywhere so beautifully decorated, ever! And I have visited many places before to pick out a tree.

So from this point forward, I know exactly where we will get future trees from. I do expect and know that this tree will last many years to come. It is sturdy and robust and beautiful. Thanks to GardenSite’s Christmas Shop.

By the way, I did a little poll on Twitter to find out if people decorated the back of their Christmas trees. The answers were interesting! Basically, a lot of people only decorate the bits that will be shown. I thought that was such a frugal idea! And then it dawned on me to hide some candy cane sweets at the back of the tree! We will only reveal this to the kids when it is time to take the tree down after Christmas. This we hope will encourage them to help. We will let you know how this goes!

GardenSite has an online shop but I am grateful that I can find their shop on Chester Road in Sutton Coldfield just a few minutes from me. Their prices are affordable, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere in the store is really homely and yet, exciting. Do check them online as they are also great with deliveries or pop into the shop where you will find it hard to leave. Don’t say you weren’t warned!

How far along are you with getting your home decorated for Christmas? Do let us know in the comments below. Also, do you like our tree? We will add white lights to the look. Photo to be added as soon as the lights go up.

My kids have long since grown up and moved on but I always would hide a small gift in the branches for them to find when it was time to take the tree down. That was, as you say, bribery to get them to help. It was a long time tradition of mine and one I’ve never known anyone else to do until you mentioned it here. As for decorating for Christmas, I have not begun that yet as it’s only the 4th of December. But I did have company this morning that came bearing gifts and goodies, so now I’m at least thinking about dragging up a few things. The tree can wait until the middle of the month though as we leave it up until Jan 6h.

Oh, I’ve never heard anyone else with my trick too! Well, all the very best for a lovely festive season.
