Our Word for This Week is Down

This post may contain affiliate links

You know we are upbeat gals but this week we weren’t much like that at all. The other words that we could use to describe this week include negative (we’ll tell you why), downcast, and ill. Let us give you the highlights.

After last week when we spoke about the new year reset, things took a turn for the worse. On Saturday Jo had a strange but very terrible headache. Leisa’s head felt heavy, full, and muggy. We just couldn’t put our fingers on what caused the sudden change. This unwell feeling carried on for most of this week and saw us feeling rather down about things.

We don’t normally sleep in the day and hardly ever get back into bed unless we are going to bed at night or are seriously ill. Well, both of us slept on more than one occasion during the day this week. Needless to say, we thought of the big C (Covid) and both of us did tests. The test results were negative, which brought a huge sigh of relief. It was my first time doing a covid test by the way. I am so careful about keeping myself safe that I honestly couldn’t say how I caught covid (if the result was positive).

By Wednesday I had a sore throat that felt strange because it only happened in the mornings! Leisa took matters into her hands and made a batch of Nature’s Penicillin. It is really good as a way to fight off a cold when you feel it coming on. We also use it as an immune system booster now and again. I think this is what did the trick in the end. We really strongly recommend it.

In order to lift our mood and brighten our spirits, we decided to do a mini-makeover in the living room. We took down the curtains that we had put up for Christmas and also changed the area rug to match. We used sheer white curtains from Ikea. Leisa bought some plain white fabric from Amazon that I then sewed onto the back to give some more privacy. It was less than £4 per metre so that was good. It makes the place look brighter and airier, we feel. The sunlight streaming in gives us something to look forward to. Winter really isn’t our thing.

We also changed around the indoor plants for a bit of a facelift too.

The plant in the middle of the photo (in the black plant stand) is the monstera plant that I got Leisa for her Christmas gift. It’s beautiful and has more than one root (plant) in it so Leisa is thinking to repot them separately in bigger pots in the Spring. I love that things like these are sold on Amazon and they come securely and safely packaged so that you just unbox it and start taking care of it so that it adds beauty to your home.

We might make some red cushion covers just to add a pop of colour and as Valentine’s Day is coming up soon, that would be nice to get us out of the down mood too. Tell us what you think

Another thing I notice is down this week, is our blog’s Domain Authority (DA). I’ve resolved not to worry about it but just to keep working. We had a score of 34 recently and now it’s gone down to 29! We might face losing some money but hey, it’s life.

Needless to say, we didn’t do much on Youtube this week. So the analytics (and revenue too) are down! Tomorrow (Saturday), we will have the premiere of our Come Dine With Me January edition and we are looking forward to that. Oh, this is an invitation to you too. It will be on at 6 pm UK time.

We are feeling much better and hope to be back to our usual selves next week. Do take care and have a great week ahead.

I’m glad you tested negative, it’s such a worry isn’t it? I hope you both feel better very soon. Love the new look of the living room! I especially like the rug 🙂

Oh no! You must have been really down and poorly if you have used a negative word. You’s are both usually so upbeat. What a worry to think you might have had Covid, I am so glad the tests were negative. It’s good that you’s are feeling better now. The living room looks great.
Ugh! To the domain score dropping. Mine dropped from 29 to 28 this week too. I will check out your Come Dine With Me video. x

I’m sorry you have both felt down. I’m glad you didn’t get covid. It is doing the rounds again in the kids schools at the moment. I love the front room facelift and the idea of red cushions for Valentine’s day. DA is always a battle! #WotW

This is a story that took place last night when I was working at home. Everything was going well and it all seemed cool. Then, I woke up with the worst headache of my life and my mouth couldn’t stop bleeding. (My teeth hurt too). It took me almost 30 minutes to figure out what happened. By first, I called everyone back and texted, you are doing very well now. But as soon as they responded, some things started spinning around in their heads, they didn’t realize there were still two people at home that wasn’t even together anymore, and that too on opposite ends of the country. We’re dealing with this pandemic together. It feels pretty weird to be isolated at the moment. My heart is full of guilt and so sad to see how our country is trying to handle quarantine this late.
It took me almost an hour to figure it out, and yes it hurt my ears to listen to all the noises while trying to work on it again until finally the doctor arrived to take care of it all and said to make sure every day to stretch and move away from any thing that might hurt you or irritate you.
    But at times such…
