Progress is our Word of the Week

This post may contain affiliate links

There is a series of events that happened this week that allowed me to sum it all up as more progress. Let’s see what we got up to.

This week we got free tickets to offer to our readers if you are interested in home repairs, improvement projects, etc. You can get a head start on your extension, improvement, or self-build project by CLICKING HERE for a pair of free tickets worth between £24-36* to a show near you. Meet the designers, experts, builders, and suppliers who will help you create the home of your dreams. The upcoming event takes place from 21-24 March at the NEC, Birmingham, but others will follow in Glasgow, Surrey, London, and more.

Terms and conditions: *Saving based on 2 full-priced door tickets. The offer ends 3 pm the day before the show. Children aged 16 and under go free. We will be at the Birmingham show next week!

We have been asked to help a young person with furnishing and decorating her brand new (to her) apartment. It is quite a challenge as we have never done any such thing before. But we say: ‘Bring it on!’ There is no flooring, or window treatments, and not even the boiler works! We have made progress in a number of areas so far even though we got the keys less than a week ago. A decorator has been sourced to do the painting of the entire apartment (it is a one-bedroom bungalow). We have earmarked an area for a built-in pantry and that is progressing well. With the young person’s input, we are sourcing furniture, flooring, and white goods for the kitchen.

The young person would like to have blinds fitted in the front of the property, so we went to source the same. The first quote was over £400! Personally, I was blown away by that. We went to Dunelm and we were able to pick up 2 of the 3 blinds we need for £30. We should be able to install them ourselves too or ask someone whose quote, hopefully, will not be so exorbitant.

Both Jo and Big Daughter are making progress with their new jobs. I’m sure they both are more familiar now with how things work regarding the job than they were this time last week. So that is progress.

There is progress too where the kitchen is concerned. We now have all that we need (with a little exception) for installation to proceed. Yesterday we picked up the paint from B and Q which is, wait for it…..GREEN! Watch this space. It is not a colour I have ever painted any wall but I am looking forward to it. The little ‘exception’ is the backsplash. We ordered one from Amazon which never came, so we have asked for a refund and will order another one by the end of the week.

We do not go to COSTCO as often as we would like as we do not have our membership cards, so we have had to borrow. Well, as a part of the perks of the new job Big Daughter’s company offered staff discounted COSTCO cards. So there are now 2 cards in the household so that is progress. We should be able to go more often now and the nearest store is quite near to us too.

There is progress with our YouTube channel too. We have a series called Come Dine With Me where we collaborate with other content creators who cook on their channel. Well, this week saw us collaborating with a Jamaican YouTuber who urged his subscribers to check out our channel. Well, as a result, we have had a significant growth spurt and at the time of writing this post, that one video has had over 5,000 views. If that is not progress well then I don’t know what is! Don’t you think?

Have a sneak peek of the video below.

Jo also did a short video of her experience joining the workplace at this ripe old age. You can see that below

We are pleased with the progress made so far and thank God for His goodness in our lives. Thanks too to Anne who allows us to join in this linkie.

Have a blessed week ahead,

Jo and Leisa

How wonderful to be able to offer free tickets to the Homebuilding & Renovating Show. It sounds like a great event.
Good luck with helping the young person. Moving into somewhere new is a big challenge without the added extras you are dealing with like no flooring and a boiler which doesn’t work.
I hope you do share some pictures of the progress in the kitchen. I hope it goes well. x

Good luck with the kitchen, mine is green but it could do a freshen up. It’s good that you have made some progress this week, it sounds positive. You’re so kind in helping the young person with their new home, it sounds like a big task. And well done on your You Tube channel.

Helping the young person with their new apartment sounds like a big challenge – well done to you both for taking it on and your resourcefulness. Good luck with it all. Glad things are progressing with your kitchen and how lovely to have a boost to your YouTube channel through the collaboration. #WotW
