This Week it’s all About Tik Tok

This post may contain affiliate links

This is basically me trying to justify all the time I’ve been spending on Tik Tok recently. To be honest, it has been a lot. So my word of the week this week is Tik Tok. Whoever came up with this idea of giving people the chance to share these little clips is a genius. I’ve loved scrolling through on my phone and weeding out the ugly, sad, and distasteful to find little titbits of hope, humour, cheer, domestic bliss, unboxing, and money-saving tips. I have been so impressed with Tik Tok on my phone that I downloaded the app on my iPad too. I told myself that it was to help my eyesight since the phone screen was so small. Well, guess what? The Tik Toks on my iPad seem to be significantly longer than the ones on my phone so I am enjoying it.

Heart-warming Tik Toks

I love listening to and watching stories about how people met and how they’ve become good friends or even partners. But this week I saw where two different, unrelated black men have decided to foster or adopt kids. What made it even more special is that these men are ‘cultured’, educated, and have the financial means to give disadvantaged kids a good start in life. I’ve found myself grinning from ear to ear several times when watching these. I like too, that most times the kids are grateful and really show it.

Food-related Tik Toks

I love food and am not against trying new foods. I sometimes don’t think I would purchase some of the ingredients (for fear of not using it all, thereby wasting money). But I have been inspired to try some things like focaccia, sourdough, fried pasta (who knew?) and a lot of African dishes that seem spicy and bursting with flavour. I also chuckle to myself when I see someone try to taste something they’ve just made and their face gives it away that it’s not all they thought it would be.

Money Saving Tik Tok

The money-saving Tik Toks are my favorites. This week I followed a train of discussion (after watching a video) that all we really need for washing a load of clothes in the washing machine is a tablespoon of washing-up liquid and one of white vinegar mixed in with a half cup of water! Would you try that? I am up for it and would definitely do it the next time I put a load in. Some were saying that the amount of soap in one of those tablets isn’t much at all! So it must be true then that this concoction would work. I love a frugal living tip!

There were a lot of craft-related posts too. Boy, people are clever! This lady has been making and selling stuff using her Cricut Explore Air 2 since Covid restrictions came into place years ago and it seems she just can’t satisfy all the orders she’s getting due to limited time. That seriously made me think of getting out my own Cricut machine and get a move on with making some money too! Just think of all the money I could be saving.

I was amazed this week at one Tik Tok I saw where a family traveling on holiday but making a sort of ’round the world’ trip of it. They paid much less for the trip by getting connecting flights in different countries rather than taking a straight flight! They’ve made it so much fun by creating worksheets for the kids to fill in about facts relating to each country they pass through. I think that I would enjoy that too, but it all depends on who I’m traveling with.

There’s a lot there too about Crypto Currency but I am still too nervous to venture into that area. Is anyone else too scared? This week I saw some money-making ideas too, about starting a business or even some simple ones like selling stuff you no longer need to make some money.

What’s been the most memorable thing you saw on Tik Tok recently? Do you have a Tik Tok Account and wish to share? Let us know in the comment section below. I do have an account but I haven’t posted over there yet. I am having way more fun posting on Youtube. Here’s hoping you had a good week with some fun and some relaxation mixed in.

Ohh! I love TikTok! I used to love to watch YouTube but now I prefer TikTok. 5 minutes scrolling can easily turn into an hour though. I seem to get a lot of animal, Grey’s Anatomy, and foodie videos. The money saving TikToks are fantastic although my girls seem to spend money on things they’ve seen on TikTok. Only this week my eldest has bought a pickle kit which is all the rage at the moment. I’ve never seen it so it must be something aimed at teenagers and the young one’s. lol

I’ve never really got into Tik Tok, I do have an account but I just added a couple of my shorter YouTube videos. I don’t really have time for You Tube now, I would have more content when my children were younger.

I have a TikTok account but don’t really use it. I only set it up because my daughter’s dance school are on TikTok and I wanted to keep up with their posts. Sounds like you’ve been watching a lot of good content on there. The ’round the world’ trip idea sounds very interesting. #WotW

I joined tiktok in lockdown but never uploaded anything. I just haven’t got the time to create the content for it. My husband always watches it. He can loose hours just scrolling on his phone #WotW
