Three Ways you can use the Internet to save money

This post may contain affiliate links

You know us, one of the best ways we’ve come to use the Internet to save money and also to make money is by setting up a blog. We’ve done several blog posts to show you how you can too. You can start off by reading this post and see how we even got a TV role from it.

For many people, times have never been harder and the frugally minded person will be looking for ways to save more money during the pandemic. While traditional methods such as couponing, saving, and recycling or upcycling things are excellent ways to save money on everyday items and even some luxuries, many people don’t realise that when it comes to pinching the pennies, the internet can be your best friend.

The biggest thing that people do on the internet now is shopping and this has increased by 40% since the start of the Covid-19 outbreak as more people have been confined to their homes. Savvy retailers have taken advantage of this by offering internet exclusive deals that trick you into paying more, but you can get your own back. You can even complain about this and get some money back!

Always look to save the most money possible with the following methods:

  • Using Comparison Sites
  • Applying Online Codes
  • Booking Online

Comparing services online is an excellent way to find the cheapest or most suitable provider that you need without being ripped off while many big brands often have temporary deals on some of their best products by applying codes at checkout and booking online is almost always cheaper than paying at the gate for many attractions.

Using Comparison Sites

Very quick and easy to use, mostly reliable, and full of useful information, comparison websites have become a huge online industry in their own right. Most services such as car insurance, loan applications, and conveyancing quotes can be found on comparison websites that will allow you to reference multiple providers against each other.

Some comparison sites also allow people to leave reviews of their services so you can gauge whether or not they are reliable, but you need to be aware that some sites will display sponsored businesses at the top, which are required by law to be labeled so it is sometimes best to scroll down a little for the most relevant results.

You should also consider using digital banks to make your money go even further.

Applying Online Codes

I would always suggest that you try to type and search for a coupon code for a particular retailer before you go ahead and make your purchase online.

If you know where to look, the internet can be full of deals. One of the best ways to save money when shopping online is to use promotional codes that are usually applied at checkout. The only bad thing about these is that they can be very time-sensitive and many will have expired when you come to use them.

Some of the best retailers for codes include food providers such Pizza Hut and Dominos which often apply a 50% discount to your order when over a certain amount or other very generous deals. You should be aware that there are many scams out there that might try to charge you for codes; genuine codes and “online freebies” are always free.

Booking Online

One of the best-kept secrets that most businesses won’t tell you is that you can save a lot of money by simply booking online overpaying at the establishment itself.  Attractions such as theme parks, aquariums, and zoos will often provide up to 20% off ticket prices when purchased using their online booking systems and some provide better deals.

With the weather becoming warmer, summer right around the corner, and Covid-19 restrictions easing in many countries now is looking like a great time to get on the internet and do a little research or planning for your summer activities with the family or children and making a note of the attractions with the best deals when booked online.

We are definitely looking forward to our next vacation and another trip to Jamaica is definitely on the radar. Just watch this space. Lockdown has left us longing for the sunshine so fingers crossed we will find some good deals online too.

I always try and save a bit of money when I am shopping online. The kids laugh at me when I go looking for online codes but I mostly get some money off.
    Great advice x
