A happy new month to you! It’s April, and Spring has truly sprung and we are feeling better for it. I am currently looking out through the windows in my living room where the sunshine is pouring through. It feels so good to not be cooped up in the cold. I have a smile on my face as I think about all the things we’ve loved in March this year.
I feel that it is good to reflect on where we’ve been, what we’ve done, and things we’ve enjoyed. This makes us grateful for all that we have and also gives us the motivation to keep on this path.
So here are some of the things we’ve loved and enjoyed in March this year.
Property Success
Some of you might know that we do dabble in property investments and this goes up and down sometimes. We always make sure to hand over the rental properties in good repair and we expect that they will be kept that way. It is quite frustrating when the tenants or agency make complaints about things being in disrepair and need money being spent on it.
March though was a success in this regard. No complaints were received so no extra money spent and as a result, we were able to add some more money to our investments.
Every little helps, so if it’s even an extra £100, we are grateful.
Sunshine
To be honest, we only had about 5 or so really sunny days in March. Two of those days were glorious and we lived it up in the garden. We pruned the roses, checked on the compost, and refreshed the garden a bit.
The lawn at the front and back got some attention too, and we enjoyed feeling the sunshine on our skin while we did it. Soon, we’ll be able to put our garden chairs back outside and also the table we did up ourselves last summer.
Mothers’ Day
For those of you who are not in the UK, you might not know that Mothers’ Day is in March here.
Our kids made us feel special as usual and we appreciated their gifts and flowers. It made me reflect on a number of things: mothers who are not nice to their children (yes, some aren’t), mothers who can’t see their kids for one reason or another, and also people who have lost their moms. It must be a difficult time in all of those circumstances.
Anyways, the flowers we got did help to cheer up the look of the house in the down and dull days. We are only just now going to add them to the compost bin as they have wilted quite a bit.
Best performance on YouTube
Our little channel is growing guys! We are so grateful. We had about 100 new subscribers in March and our most popular video got over 400 views! I know the numbers sound small for those who are big on YouTube but these little wins mean so much to us.
Wanna know what the most popular video was? It was for our Jamaican bun recipe! Eating bun and cheese is a popular pastime in Jamaica during Easter and I suppose a lot of persons wanted to try making their own this year.
You can see the video here. Do pardon Leisa’s over-excited voice. Oh, don’t forget to subscribe to our channel and help us to grow over there. We really do appreciate it. And it is absolutely free.
Favourite pastime activities
We are not movie fans and this year we have pledged to spend some more time reading. Well, it hasn’t quite happened. I think Leisa started reading a book about our health and the foods we eat. I, on the other hand, have failed miserably.
Surprisingly though, we watched one or two movies on Netflix! And we didn’t fall asleep! We got sucked into the hype that everyone was making about Behind Her Eyes. We enjoyed it except for the last half or so of the last episodes.
We won’t give away any of it in case you haven’t watched it yet. But we thought the actors and actresses did a really good job. And some of them (the black girl in particular), remind us of people we actually know.
The next film we watched was Rocks. OMG! It reminded us so much of our teaching days. And made us feel like we were actually glad that we left teaching. But actually, we enjoyed watching it. The young people did really well, and one was even nominated for a Bafta award! We actually gave her our vote. If you haven’t seen it yet, we would advise you to.
You will have a feel for what we teachers go through.
On a brighter note, our son celebrated his 22nd birthday and we had a little celebration at home. He got his requested red velvet cake and I’m sure he enjoyed his gifts too.
We hope you enjoyed reading about the 5 or so things that we enjoyed in March. Have a great start to the month and we hope you are looking forward to April and what it has in store.
I’m linking up with this Cass, Emma and Becky in this week’s ‘Frugal Friday’ linky.
I love looking back over what I’ve enjoyed. The change in the weather has definitely featured high on my list!
This has been high on our list as well. Happy April!
