A Day in the Life

We are basking in goodness and contentment right about now! There is so much going on that could potentially shake us and negatively impact our mental health but we have made plans not to let anything shake us! We are standing firm in happiness. Our days are sometimes very busy and sometimes too, very chilled. Whatever happens though, we are determined not to be too stressed. In fact, anything that is too stressful we tend to avoid. They vary from month to month and even season to season, so what we will share now is a typical day which in fact might be a round up of a couple days averaged together, if you get what we mean. Read on and you will hopefully understand.

Morning Routine

We are early risers, and so by 6 am we are up and out of bed. We both do what we need to including private time for reflection, perhaps light chores, checking emails etc and of course shower and prepare for the day. On most days we have breakfast about 9 am. This can be something light like a hot drink and a fruit or a Jamaican style breakfast which is not light at all. Soon after breakfast we have worship and prayer together. This gives us a chance to read a portion of the bible and discuss our take on things, resolve to use the knowledge from the study wisely and also to share if and when possible.

After breakfast and worship we discuss things that need to be done both for the Youtube channel as well as for the blog. This might mean that we have to set up to film, or edit videos, write posts or respond to comments. As well as that, we have a very lively group of subscribers who join us every Sunday to Thursday at 6 pm UK time for what we call Happy Hour. It is going really well and we do not want to let them down and so a big effort is made each day to come up with a topic that we think would be suitable for us to discuss.

Mid-day Routine

We have our main meal in the middle of the day round about 12:30 or 1:00 pm. We take turns to prepare the meal, so whilst one of us gets the meal ready, the other gets on with other household chores or vlog/blog/work related matters. We do look forward to the main meal and these days we are trying out cuisines from all over the world. We share on our Youtube channel too so feel free to check it out!

We have young adults and so when they are home, the main meal most times has a wide variety because they all like different things and we aim to please. When they are not home, however, like now they are back at University and work, we get to make just what both of us want and we also get to save cost by cooking only a few times for the week. We don’t mind having left overs later in the week but the young people don’t like this at all.

Seasonal Jobs

As the seasons change, so does our routine. For example, we have a beautiful garden and we spend a lot of time there in the Spring and Summer months. The tasks of weeding, planting, watering, clearing and rearranging never seem to end, but we love it. In the Autumn and Winter months, we do spend a lot of time indoors and we engage in hobbies such as needlecraft of all sorts, crocheting, art and sometimes we do like to dabble in a bit of DIY home improvements. These jobs we save for when we are locked in doors. We love each others company so it is not boring at all.

As the day fades to evening, we try to get a walk in, we watch television, well we watch Youtube on the television. We like supporting YouTubers, particularly those we have come to love watching. We watch them, make comments on their videos and also share as we know that is the support they need to make it on the platform.

Sometimes we come up with really grand ideas for our channel and that might involve travelling. One of our favourites is Wednesday Day Date. This is where we take time in the middle of the day on a Wednesday to run errands on the road and also to stop for a meal. We have done it 17 times so far! So long as the weather is good, we head out, enjoy the experience, particularly the meal and then we return home, most times tired but very satisfied.

Evening Hours

By 5:00 pm most days, we are finished with planned work. We schedule for the next day, those things that did not get done and then we wind down. We get something light to eat around 5 pm and then have our live ‘Happy Hour’. After happy hour we relax with Youtube or some craft, and finally a little bit of television, usually some crime investigation type documentary. (we both like that kinda thing). We get ready for bed and between 9:30 and 10:00 we are off to dreamland.

We hope you have enjoyed reading about a day in our life. Tell us if it sounds mega boring, just so we know. But we love the life we live now since we gave up teaching and would not have it any other way, unless of course that involves getting some overseas travel in. That is one of our biggest passions.

Cheerio,

Jo and Leisa

I am glad you are sticking with happiness instead of letting things get to you.
It sounds like your days are busy but enjoyable.
I miss being out in the garden but now that it’s colder I am getting more done around the house. x
