Autumn Decor

This post may contain affiliate links

Autumn is here! I love the hues of colours available in nature. I love that it inspires us to dress in autumnal colours and I also especially love the inspiration to bring some autumn vibes into our home!

For some years, we have liked the idea of changing decor seasonally. It is not something commonly done in Jamaica where we are from originally nor even here in the UK where we have lived for the past 20 years. Still, it is something we have embraced and we love it! We do try to keep expenses to a minimum and we also use our expertise in areas of needlework, craft, embroidery and crotchet to help. Of course, we bring some of the outsides in. Our vases at home often have plants and flowers in pretty autumnal colours.

The main areas of the home we tend to decorate are the dining room and the living room.  It is always an exciting time. We get the decor pieces we have stored over the year and we set about cleaning, then decorating. Of course, we record the whole shebang, after all, we do have a growing Youtube channel. Our subscribers have come to look forward to seeing the updated seasonal decor and we do not want to disappoint them. You can see the last Autumn decor here.

Decor Pieces

In addition to the decor pieces we have bought over the years, We have included items we have made over the years such as crotchet pumpkins, pumpkins made from old worn fabric, leaves in beautiful Fall colours and of course foliage from outside. That runner on the sideboard was done by yours truly (Leisa). What do you think? We also put on a fireplace moving image on the telly to give true autumn vibes.

It’s a good idea to change even the vase to one that looks more fitting to the particular decor. I have a habit of spray painting vases to make them more suitable for what I want at the time. It’s so nice to be able to spray paint it again to another colour if I choose to.

An integral part of the autumn decor in our home is real pumpkins. These are arranged nicely on the sideboard in the dining room and add a special touch.

You can get as creative as you want with autumn decor. Take inspiration from nature and run with it!

Take care,

Jo & Leisa

I bring the blankets out, my Autumn and winter candles and closer to Halloween put some decorations up. Changing the decor is fun and exciting to do. x
