Come see and hear what I’ve been up to on holiday so far. I wouldn’t say it has been an amazing holiday so far, but I’m loving it and have no regrets, even if it’s a boring day where I do nothing. I’m not into high-energy holidays, and I love just going with the flow.
Is a Florida Vacation all about Shopping?
I never ever plan it this way, but I always end up going out with my mom and sister and they show me all these places where you can grab a bargain on clothes, shoes, and the like. What is it about this that always grabs me? I had gotten enough US dollars at the bank to last me for the duration of my time here. Well, I’ve only done a week, and I’ve already exhausted it! I see some real frugal living for the next few weeks, lol. See the pictures below of some of the stash that I have managed to spend money on. Although, lots of it are free to me from my mom and sister who know how to coupon and grab a bargain when they see it going, even though they don’t ever know long in advance when they are going to see me. But I’ve decided that my Florida vacation will not just entail shopping. After all, I don’t have an unlimited supply of the green stuff (US dollars).
So what else will I do with my Florida Vacation time?
I will get some exercise in. I have to. But I find that in this weather I am absolutely melting, as it’s so hot! So I will walk the mall each day. Why the mall? Well, it’s a nice way to browse what’s available at bargain prices (I will leave my purse at home so I am not tempted into buying on impulse); plus it’s air-conditioned inside, it’s usually safe, and I can just watch the world go by.
My sister has promised to take me on a one night cruise one of the weekends. I did this once and really enjoyed it so this is one thing I am looking forward to. It should be good to meet others, to relax and unwind. I’ll update the post with photos if this comes to fruition.
I love long rides (especially if I’m not driving; you can read my post about me and driving) and as I have my brother to visit in another state 5 hours away, I’ll do my best to enjoy this little trip. My sister doesn’t mind doing the 5-hour drive but she certainly doesn’t want to drive 10 hours in one day. So, as I don’t drive while on holiday, and I’d never do a 5-hour drive anyway, we’ll find an affordable hotel to spend the night after seeing my brother, see the sites in the morning, and then drive back home. This will be quite emotional for me, as I haven’t seen my brother in well over 5 years! More on that at the end if I get to take some pics when I go.
Charitable Florida Vacation
I have noticed that in quite a few stores that I’ve been in, I’ve overheard the person at the till asking whether the shopper wants to donate some money to charity. I don’t know the reasoning behind this, so maybe you can enlighten me, but I’ve heard every person who was asked, say no, they didn’t want to donate. Is this the new normal? I overheard one woman say that these charities spend too much money on the top executives rather than on the people who really need to be helped. I think it’s such a shame! What do you feel about the situation? Hopefully, we will all come to our senses as I think there’s enough in terms of resources for the whole world to live comfortably.
I’ve been daydreaming too long, and it’s now another Monday morning. Time flies when you’re having fun, eh? Well, that was me and what I’ve been up to lately. Do share in the comments section below what you get up to when you’re on holiday. Do you go on a high-intensity one that leaves you longing for another holiday at the end of it? Or do you just chill? Do you spend time thinking about the world and the state that it’s in?

Hey Jo and Leisa! Great post! I usually head to Disney World on my vacations. You should check it out while you’re in Florida! It’s far from a low-energy vacation though.
Also, I’d love to be added to your Pinterest Group Board, Frugal/thrifty 101. Would you consider adding me? I really appreciate it!

Sure thing! And I’m sure we’ll get to check out Disney one day.
