My word of the week reflects tha fact that there was nothing major or significant that happened this week. I could have chosen insignificant or mundane but I chose to go with nothing.
On Sunday morning we decided to invite a friend over for dinner. We had planned to make African okra soup or egusi soup with fufu. We have made these before, and we really like them. But the fufu we used this time was a box mix we had not used before. My first attempt was done without reading the instructions on the packet and it turned out to be a lumpy mess. Luckily we had made a small batch just to try before our friend arrived. After Leisa read the instructions, we realised that you need to make a paste with the powder first, and then put it on to the heat. This batch was a success. I was happy we had a full box or else we would have nothing to go with the stew for dinner.
On Monday we both had appointments to do some blood tests for our regular check-up. Unfortunately for both of us, the phlebotomist could not find a vein from which to take the blood. It is hard for us in this regard. We always have to end up getting a few pokes and stabs before they give up trying and send us off to the hospital or some other specialist facility. According to our surgery, the appointment is only 5 minutes, while they have more time per patient at the hospital. So, with nothing in the vials, we have to go to another facility next Monday to try again. Pray for us, lol.
Work has been good too, with some days being busier than others. I am glad I can set my own schedule (as long as I get my work done), so I can have an hour or so doing nothing (or nothing much) sometimes. Some days I just need that little break. Oh, this week I booked off about 18 days spread out 4 times over the next few months. I like being home and free when it’s half term so those have been booked off. So nostalgic of my teaching days.
Nothing at all was done in the garden this week, except for putting kitchen scraps and paper in the compost bin. It has been so cold, I haven’t ventured out at all. The treadmill is my thing now so I do at least 30 minutes every morning. It’s better than nothing, I tell myself.
I hope you’ve had a more eventful week and wishing you Spring (or at least warm) weather where you are.
Me and my twinnie bestie posing for a photo before church. (FYI the round face belongs to Jo and the rectangular one is for Leisa, now you know!)
Linking with Anne and others to share our word of the week.
We all have weeks when we have nothing going on. I class them as a good week!
The soup looks so good, I am glad you worked the fufu out.
That is a shame the blood test didn’t work out, I hope you have better luck at the hospital.
It was cold last week, we had sleet and hailstones here. Brr!

It’s Monday now so I hope all is going well with your blood tests. I remember when I used to be a problem, but in the end I had to have so many cannulas the nurse would say where are we going to today, and I’d say ‘that vein looks pretty good’ It’s not fun when it goes wrong though, only this week it took the nurse 4 attempts at a cannula for my daughter and she ended up crying in my arms (she’s never had to have one before, not like her sister who is a pro. like me!) Leisa does like her pouty photos doesn’t she 🙂

Leisa had success with hers after about 2 stabs. I had no less than 10 stabs before they finally found one. I am bruised all over. But glad I didn’t have to go again to the hospital.
If there is a week where nothing happens I class that as a win! Hope all went well with your blood tests
Glad the second attempt at the fufu worked well. Hope that all went well with your blood tests yesterday. That’s great that you can organise your own work schedule – I’m lucky that I can mostly do that too and it is so good to have that flexibility. Well done for using the treadmill each morning. #WotW
