I think this could easily sum up everyone’s week as long as you live here in the UK. If you read our blogs regularly then you would know that we are not fans of cold weather at all. And after hibernating for just over 2 weeks, we weren’t pleased with our Alexa when she said we would be enduring freezing temperatures this week.
On Sunday afternoon we really wanted a nice treat so we padded up ourselves with hats, scarves, gloves and coats to walk to the little corner shop nearest to us. I suppose you can imagine what happened next. It was so cold despite all our preparation so after passing the fourth house, we made a U-turn and came right back home. We are absolutely hopeless where the cold is concerned. Our eyes water, noses do the same, and sometimes I can’t feel my toes and fingers! Help!
On Monday we had a scare when Leisa lost a filling so we knew we had to try to get a dental appointment rather quickly. Has anyone ever had a toothache during a cold spell? It’s the worst! We knew we had to head out as we got an appointment for Tuesday just before noon. The saving grace was that we could drive there for the appointment. It was fairly straightforward except that the heavy wind made it seem extra cold. We did see the gritters out so I was thinking that maybe snow is on the way. One good thing is that they didn’t charge for the filling as it had only recently been done. Fingers crossed that it will last longer this time. The last thing we would want at this time is to have to do an extraction.
The only other time we ventured out was a quick trip to Asda to get a few ingredients we needed to make our green juice. We always start it up in January after all the ‘junk’ we consume over Christmas. Usually, it lasts for a good few months. Anyway, we saw other people stocking up on supplies as if they were also expecting a snowstorm or something. Is there one coming?
I think if this weather continues, we will have soup on the cold-weather meal plan for next week. It also goes well with some homemade bread, so we will see. We hope you had a good week and managed to deal with the cold somehow. In some parts of Canada and New York they had a snowstorm this week so let’s count ourselves lucky!

I have just written my word of the week for tomorrow and did think about using “cold” but I think I might save it for next week as it’s set to get even colder. Eek!
I hate being cold but it sounds like it really get’s to you’s. I’ve been under a blanket with a hot water bottle when I have been sat down.
Ouch! Toothache is the worst when it’s cold.
I am planning on making some soup next week to keep us warm. x

You can tell we live in the same County, lol. I agree, there is nothing worse than the mixture of cold and toothache, I’m glad you got it fixed quickly. I think there is snow on the way. I might add a little extra to my shopping delivery tomorrow just in case… ingredients for home made soup sound nice 🙂

Cold and toothache has got to be one of the least fun combinations. Glad it got sorted quickly. The very mention of s**w is enough to make folks run to the shops to stock up. I do not like snow so I’m hoping we don’t get any. I might stock up just in case..

It has certainly been very cold lately – I don’t blame you for not wanting to venture out in it. Glad Leisa’s filling got sorted out quickly. Soup and home-made bread is perfect at this time of year. Hope you’re managing to stay warm. #WotW
