Maybe you guessed that this would be our word of the week. We always try to be positive, and we also find that being grateful and counting our blessings, no matter how small, has a positive impact on our well-being and mental health. This week, we have a number of things to be grateful for.
First of all, to celebrate that I do not have hyperkalemia, I cried happy tears. I posted the result in last week’s post. Truly grateful for the news, I added it to my list of things to be grateful for this week. I told my friend who bought me the book of recipes and facts about a low potassium diet. Her response to my happy tears was that she needed to send me a box of tissues next! Lol
On Sunday, we decided to treat ourselves to a proper Chinese meal at a restaurant. I am grateful that I could once again enjoy foods that I like, like mushrooms, green leafy veggies, peppers and beef. We enjoyed noodles, tofu, crispy fried chicken wings, egg fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls. We all decided that next time we will go for things on the menu that we have never tried before.
Without sharing too much, on Tuesday, we found ourselves in a bit of trouble when someone reported that we were live streaming at 5:10 PM. one day last week, Jo was at work at 5:10 and could have gotten into serious trouble if that was true. The clock in the living room was saying 5:10 in the video stream when it was actually 6:10 PM, well after work!
When the clocks go forward or backward, we do not usually change the clock in the living room as it is bulky, we’d have to climb on the sofa, and also, it’s just hard to line up the hole in the back with the nail it’s supposed to go onto. If you know, you know! Anyone else has this?
I am grateful for the fact that our daughter was able to search YouTube for us to find out when the live stream was actually on. It clearly shows that it was 6:10 PM, and so does Streamyard which is the streaming platform that we use to set up live streams. It made me think of people who are imprisoned wrongfully because they are unable to show proof or evidence of something. I’m not saying it was done maliciously, but we just need to be careful.
We also went back to our phones on WhatsApp to find the conversations we had with each other about when the live stream was about to begin etc on that date. Of course, all the evidence is still there.
The situation also made me think of how good it is to be able to work from home. We shouldn’t take it for granted, as it is truly a privilege.
The back garden needed some deep work, clearing old plant pots, bits of wood and also a good clearout. We got it done this week, and we are really grateful for that. It was a £45 job, but at least we won’t be spending on plants, still the place looks so much cleaner and clearer. The gentleman even managed to fix our garden parasol which we thought was irreparable. That has saved us at least £70! So grateful.
Other things we are grateful for this week
Hobbies- to relax with and to take our mind off things
Family- we don’t have much here, but we have each other
Laughs- you know us, that’s something we enjoy
Downtime- we do enjoy having nothing to do sometimes
Health- apart from a few aches and pains, things are ok for now, and we are grateful.
Special blessings- a friend was involved in a very serious car accident this week and managed to walk away unscathed. Shaken, but not injured. Another acquaintance had a successful heart procedure done this week. Such blessings to be grateful for.
We hope you had a good week too, and can think of a few things to be grateful for.
That’s fabulous news about your health, I know how worried you were. I must have missed the update last week.
How awful that someone reported you, it goes to show that you can’t tell anything just by looking you need to find out the facts. I’m so glad you had all the evidence.
Thank goodness your friend was okay, they are very lucky indeed.
I love your attitude of gratitude, ladies.. There is always something to be grateful for.
Have a lovely weekend.

So much to be grateful for. Chinese can be such a treat, right? Sorry about the time issue – sounds stressful.
What wonderful things to be grateful for. I am so glad that you do not have hyperkalemia, what a worrying time of it you have had. The Chinese meals sounds a fab way to celebrate and all of the food sounds delicious!
Oh gosh, I am so glad you could prove that you weren’t on the live stream at the time the reporting person thought you were. I hope it wasn’t malicious. x

Many things or you to be grateful for. I can’t believe that someone reported you for live streaming though, how mean. I know what you mean about the clock. I have one that is heavy and above my sideboard. I can’t reach up to change it, or even climb up. I have tried to change it for a smaller clock but it made me feel bad because it belonged to my Mum who died in 2008, I also have her big mirror on the opposite wall. This year my eldest son changed the clock at 3am for me and I was really surprised to get up at the ‘right time’

I can’t believe someone was petty enough to report you for live streaming, surely if they were watching it and thought the time was correct then they should’ve been working also. #wotw
