Satisfied is our Word of the Week

This post may contain affiliate links

Ok, at some point, we just have to say enough is enough and just move on. So even though we still have things to be done, we are choosing satisfied as our word of the week.

Black Friday

This is the week where almost every email has something about Black Friday in it! I’ve had to tell myself that I am satisfied with what I have and there is nothing really that I need. I know from using things like Idealo that a lot of places trick people into thinking that there is a sale on. You just need to do some research to find out that some of the prices you are seeing as sale prices were the actual prices earlier on in the year! A lot of people don’t know that. So I need nothing and have bought nothing. I keep telling myself that the same thing that these people are after (money) is the same thing I am after, lol.

Internet Issues

This week we have had intermittent service all week and it has been very frustrating to deal with. Youtube videos which we could usually upload in a few minutes, took closer to one whole day to be done! We also rely on the Internet a lot to do other bits of work from home and we were really hindered. A quick tweet to Three has resulted in us being told that we might have intermittent service until mid-December! That is so unlike them as they usually let us know well in advance when we are going to have any break in service.

Anyway, I’ve told myself that I always want to read more so rather than get frustrated about not being able to be connected to the Internet, I should be satisfied with my circumstances (some people have it worse) and get on with some reading. I might take up a book this weekend as I still haven’t done so yet.

Done is better than perfect

On the home renovation front, we have completed the two bedrooms and they look fab! (See the video below). We had planned to take on the stairs and landing next. So Thursday saw us ripping out the carpet from the stairs and landing and setting them aside for the city council to collect next Friday.

The fitter came in last night and installed the new one and it looks so fresh and new. As a result of that, though, it has shown up how off-white (even yellow) the railing and door jams look! Each time we fix something, it shows up something else! This thing is never-ending, lol. I have a feeling that this off-white look is going to bother us over the next few days so we will have to paint it too. But for now, satisfied.

That chest of drawers at the top of the stairs came from one of the bedrooms and it was no longer needed. Anyway, Leisa came up with a genius idea to paint it in a light grey (and the handles black) and use it to store extra loo rolls, towels for the upstairs bathroom in one drawer, and towels for the downstairs bathroom in another. One drawer is still empty but we might use it to store candles and scented oils etc.

The vases on the top were all different colours and we purchased them at the charity shop. Leisa also spray painted them black and added some pampas grass. She had planned to change the mirror to a more trendy round one with a black frame but alas, the current mirror had been stuck to the wall (to ensure it stayed up) with some very strong adhesive. I’m sure if we employ brute force to get it down we may either have an accident or some serious wall repairs to do! We are satisfied with the overall look, so we will leave that battle. It does take consistent effort to maintain your home throughout the year.

Oh, here’s the video of the bedroom makeovers.

Thanksgiving and birthdays

I hope those of you who do celebrate Thanksgiving had a nice one and also happy birthday to Anne who allows us to share how our week has been on her linky. We had a lovely mukbang of American food (takeaway from Frankie and Benny’s) last night and it was really good too. We went to bed satisfied.

We hope you had a good week too. If you have a blog, let us know how it went. You are free to join in with this linky too.

Ahh! I was glad of all the Black Friday emails, it gave me the motivation to unscubscribe from lots of shops. hehehe I wasn’t going to buy anything but did end up buying a Lego set for myself. A Harry Potter one. I didn’t need it but have wanted it for a long time.
Oh no, that is a shame about your internet issues. I hope it is sorted soon.
Your renovations do indeed look fab. The more jobs you do around the house the more you seem to see that need doing. It is never ending. x

Satisfied is such a lovely word for your week. Love your new stairs carpet and what a good idea to have the chest of drawers there to store things for the two bathrooms. I’ve managed to ignore the Black Friday sales too! Hope you get your internet issues sorted out soon. #WotW
