The Best Pumpkin Dragon Drink for This Season

This post may contain affiliate links

If you’re into cozy flavours for Fall/Autumn, then you’ll want to try your hand at making this delicious Pumpkin Dragon recipe. With its deliciously sweet flavor combination and creamy deliciousness, this drink is as comforting as it gets! The best part too is that you can swap and change the flavours to suit your own taste.

I’ve been experimenting with making drinks for the cosy days/evenings of Fall/Autumn and so far this Pumpkin Dragon is my favourite. I use regular cooking pumpkins (the ones we use to make rich soups). But you can totally use butternut squash (that flavour should be amazing) or even better still, save your Halloween pumpkins for this.

What is in a Pumpkin Dragon Drink?

Well, the must-have ingredients for this are the pumpkin and a bottle of Dragon Stout. I suppose any stout can be used but we love the mellow, smooth flavor of this one we are used to from back home in Jamaica. The dark richness and iron goodness are necessary.

For sweetness, I use condensed milk as well as some maple syrup. But you could substitute with your favourite sweeteners like dates (which could be blended with the cooked pumpkin), sugar Splenda or honey.

For added flavor, I used cinnamon, nutmeg, almond flavoring, and vanilla. This is where you can go to town and be creative with flavors. I reckon that a minty Pumkin Dragon drink would be the bomb!

The tools and Equipment you will need

Saucepan

jug

nutmeg grater

spoon

sieve or colander

blender or food processor

How to Make the Pumpkin Dragon Drink

Add hot water to a pan with your fresh or frozen peeled pumpkin.

Bring to a boil and then simmer until cooked through and soft.

Allow the pumpkin to cool for a bit before adding it to a blender with some cold water (enough to cover the pumpkin). Blend until you have a smooth consistency.

Pour the mixture into a jug and add the bottle of Dragon Stout.

Add the flavorings and sweeten to your liking. For a thicker consistency, use less water but for a thinner consistency (or for more of the drink) add more water. Adjust the sweetness and enjoy chilled or served over ice.

If you are lactose intolerant or want to go dairy-free, use almond, soy, or oat milk. I am sure there are other alternatives on the market too.

This pumpkin Dragon drink is perfect as a cool drink on one of these ‘too hot’ Fall/Autumn days but also suitable to sink into the sofa with to watch something nice on a cosy evening. I imagine it topped with cream and with some cinnamon dusted on top. Enjoy.

Have you tried Dragon Mango? You must!

Ohh! This does sound so good. I usually wouldn’t be a fan of stout but I love the sound of all the flavours together. x

I cant drink stout on its own either but it makes a lovely drink when mixed with other ingredients. Also a very good ice cream in Jamaica is made with Dragon Stout.
