Frugal Treats for Yourself

This post may contain affiliate links

With talk of Valentines in the air, getting treats for yourself is completely acceptable. This year will definitely be the year that I treat myself. I am just coming out of the other end of a not so pleasant season and want to perk myself up to continue onwards and upwards. I think you should too.

Towards the end of this post, you will read my embarrassing valentine story. You’ll understand why I choose to get my own Valentine gift. And I know I deserve it.

You know what! I believe in being fair. I have some rewards here for you and I think you deserve it if you fit any of the following criteria:

  1. Have you been working hard?
  2. Have you been following ideas for frugal living?

Well done! It’s ok to give yourself a treat every once in a while. I don’t believe you should go shopping crazy no matter what the season. In fact this year I am not buying myself any new clothes whatsoever. Read about my year of no clothes.

So what I have done is to find you some little gems that are real bargains. You have my assurance that they are not expensive at all and after all, you are not buying yourself all the items and one other justification is that they are darn cheap.

One peson you should always provide treats for at Vantentines is yourself. If you're not happy with what you usually get, get your own.

Guess what. I don’t know if you are male or female and frankly, it is not a major concern. Look at the items presented and decide which one you’d like. If one does not suit your fancy then hopefully something else will. If you like an item but not for yourself, go ahead and get it for someone else in your life. They are only very cheap.

All the items cost just a fiver

The first item I have found you is this beautiful dress available in a number of colours. The amazing thing is that this is unbelievably inexpensive and so beautiful. Trust me, I know a bargain when I see one and this is a real steal. I really love this very fashionable aztec scarf.

If that does not meet your fancy well how about this one .

For the males, I would recommend one of the following:

This button up cardigan or this casual checked shirt available in a number of colours. Or this cool Aztec scarf.

Did you find this hard to believe that all those offers I just presented cost just £5 each? If clothes are not your thing for this reward, then check out the following post as a reward for your frugal efforts.

Now for the personal cringe-worthy story

I have never been with someone who is a true romantic! So I have gotten quite used to silly stupid gifts over the years. In fact, some years, I got nothing and if I tell you that I’ve ever gotten a simple bunch of flowers from my significant other, I would be lying. By the way, I am grateful for gifts, just that some people don’t have much taste.

Instead of making a fuss, when I receive the silly, unimaginative and unromantic gifts, I smile, nod, and accept graciously. One year I had to do my smiling and nodding in front of his friends while he showed off the obvious(ly) male watch he had got me! Glad it wasn’t in front of my friends, lol.

Don’t laugh too much, but below, I’ll put some images of some of the types of things I used to get as valentines day gifts. Click and even buy if you choose to. They are all affiliate links so if you do buy, I’ll get a little money back for promoting them. It’s at no cost to you by the way.

Would you consider giving anyone any of these as Valentine’s day gift? Would you accept them gratefully with a smile and a nod? So do you blame me for deciding to get my own gift?

Take heart,  go ahead and treat yourself but only if you have worked hard and have been living frugally.

Also, check out my other funny Valentine story and this post where I have a talk with some male money bloggers from the UK to get their views on love and money.
