It’s Been a Week of Unboxing

This post may contain affiliate links

When the bin men come next week, they are not going to be happy with us at all! The recycling bin is full and running over and we’ve had to flatten and stack cardboard boxes to make them seem less and also take up less storage space.

Well, some of the cardboard will come in handy for when we get the perfect weather to take the new (brand new second-hand) round table outside to sand and paint it. We’ve been waiting all week for a good day weatherwise and it hasn’t happened yet. It looks like today will be better though.

We have had so much stuff to unbox this week partly because we are attempting to makeover the dining room area. We’ve bought a shower curtain that we intend to use to make a wall art piece and that came on Tuesday or Wednesday. Saying that though, we draped the said shower curtain over the table and I must say it makes a nice looking table cloth!

Also this week, our mom sent us a package (quite by surprise) all the way from Florida. We got four large bottles of our favourite shower gel, 3 large containers of cashew nuts, and 2 bottles of Maggi seasonings. It was a pleasant surprise and we love it! We are going to have to up our game for her upcoming birthday in a few days. She definitely knows what we love and she’s always sending little surprises over too!

The barstools that were bought for the breakfast bar in the dining area also came this week too! They are gray and wood tone in colour and I am thinking that we should do the dining table that way too. Leisa doesn’t agree as she wants the table to be a grey top and white base. We will see if I can convince her. Stay tuned for next week’s post!

We ran out of our usual moisturizer and we ordered a big tub on Amazon. I found out that it is cheaper than I paid for it the last time (last year).

Surprise Unboxing

We are members of some Facebook groups with Amazon sellers who sometimes need to get rid of stock sometimes. This week we were surprised to receive two electronic thingies for washing makeup brushes. Those were gifted to the girls who have started using them already.

We’ve got some really useful things over the years from these groups. Things like phone cases, shaving sets, manicure sets, and even dental irrigators. We’ve also had a few hair removal sets, car phone mounts etc. Our favourite freebie was a posh laundry basket that has three sections.

Unboxing these this week has been a pleasant surprise and we are happy we found a use for them too.

Our favourite unboxing this week

The best thing we had to unbox this week was a one burner portable induction hob from Ikea! We’ve been wanting one specifically for YouTube videos for a long time. The main reason is that our kitchen is already dark and then when we have to turn our back to the camera to stir, etc, it makes it even worse for the lighting aspect. If our cooker was on an island it would be much more well lit and we could face the camera and also cook at the same time.

We are looking forward to using it soon, maybe for a little queen’s jubilee cookoff! We can even use it on our trolley in the conservatory for simple dishes. It’s ever so handy and I hear that electric cookers is the way to go these days too! Watch this space.

PS the table was painted today. And Leisa won! It is grey on top and white at the bottom. Pic next week, hopefully.

We hope you have had a good week. Special thanks to Anne for allowing us to share in this linky.

Lots of unboxing for you this week. I love that shower curtain – it does make a nice-looking table-cloth! What a lovely surprise to get the package from your mom. How nice that your moisturiser was cheaper than last year – it’s nice when prices go down for a change! The portable induction hob sounds like a good buy. #WotW

Wow, so many things to unbox. I think the portable hob is going to be a game changer for your Youtube videos, and what a lovely gift from your Mum. I love the shower curtain as a table cover, I would never have thought of that…but now you have given me an idea, we have some old shower curtains I was going to use as dust sheets for when we next decorate…. but they’d make a great table cover for the outside table when we have a BBQ!! (we may have a jubilee BBQ next weekend weather permitting.)
