We like the idea of giving gifts that are unusual but also gifts that will be treasured for a long time to come. As a teacher, I used to get gifts that would just be piled up year after year and most times I didn’t even remember who they came from!
For my 50th, my son gave me a personalised coin from the year I was born and also a little locket that’s also made just for me. Things like this I will treasure for a long time.
This year we found out that you can actually get a myriad of items personalised through Tesco Photo. I’ll share some of them with you.
Can I just say that I didn’t know that you can actually just upload the photos from your phone or other devices to the Tesco Photo site and just collect the items you ordered in the store? In fact, when we went to the store to pick up, we realized that you could even take pictures right there and they print the items for you. It wasn’t expensive at all, just have a look and see. Some of the items are now available at half the price.
They do photo printing, canvas and frames, purses, photo books, beach bags, pencil cases, photo boxes, cushions and a whole host of other items.
A gentleman there showed us some prints that he took right there with his family to be sent abroad as gifts for his relatives and I couldn’t help but think that this was such a lovely idea. Since they are separated by so many miles, this gift was made even more special. The canvases and bags are lightweight so wouldn’t cost a lot in postage.
Here’s a photo of the beach bag for our mom
Now she’ll have us with her when she goes to the beach or wherever she chooses to take it. When you are ready to upload your photo for a bag, you have the option of putting both a photo as well as text on both sides. So on the front, I’ve put a photo of us in the sea on our last holiday to Jamaica, and on the back, I’ve put the beach scene from Jamaica too. What do you think of it? It is lightweight but also feels very strong.
We take so many photos, we struggled with deciding which ones to use and for what.
The photo slate
Ok, so I wanted something for a friend to remind her of our times together on the TV show Shop Smart, Save Money. I’m hoping that she will love it too. The slate feels quite heavy but I know quite well that it is breakable. The folk at Tesco Photos made sure to wrap it well with bubble wrap and it also came boxed. It’s really neat and has a jagged and rugged look around the edges. It also comes supplied with the stands so they can be placed on a flat surface. I really like it.
I am hoping she will be well pleased when she sees what I’ve done with a little selfie we took back then.
I would strongly suggest that if you choose this item for one of your photos, that you make sure it is properly protected if it is to be shipped. You certainly wouldn’t want the piece to break.
Ignore the shadows. My photography course doesn’t start until the New Year.
Photo boxes are available too!
I love photo boxes. The ones from Tesco Photos are nice and sturdy and come with grooves on the back for you if you want to hang them horizontally or vertically. These are a bit heavy though so I am going to have to pay to get one to my mom in Florida. I think she will be pleasantly surprised to receive it and I like that she has the option of putting it to stand on a flat surface or hanging it up on her wall.
You can see that it is quite thick and sturdy.
We loved the items we have selected and know that they will make lasting gifts for family and friends whether for birthdays or Christmas or just because.
We did have one little drawback as one of the photo boxes came with the corner of one of the photos peeling away ever so slightly. I really didn’t notice when I was in the shop but as soon as I got home and unwrapped them to take the photographs I saw it. Just make sure to check them over properly before you leave with them. I am sure that if you point it out, they will try to rectify the situation.
Thanks to the folk at Tesco Photos for putting a big smile on our faces this week. I am sure you would love to put smiles on others too so do check them out as the possibilities they can create are endless.
