Heads up: you can Make and Save Money Blogging

This post may contain affiliate links

If you’ve been sitting on the fence and wondering whether or not you should monetise your blog or even start a blog, here is some encouragement for you.

Yes you can make and save money blogging. Here are five practical ways I did just that this week. You are an influnecer so make use of it. You can do it too

Here a couple of ways we have actually made and saved some money as bloggers this week:

  1. Advertise on your blog
  2. Complete online surveys in your downtime
  3. Become a micro blogger and influencer
  4. Work for other bloggers
  5. Sponsored post opportunities

Advertise on your blog to make and save money

At first, when we started our blog, it seemed virtually impossible to make money from just writing and sharing our ideas and knowledge. But little by little, and with the help of other bloggers, we were told about putting ads on the blog, and earning some money when our readers viewed the ads.

Of course, this was dreamy news. We were delighted at the prospect of getting some money back that we spent paying for our domain name, for hosting the blog, paying for technical support and also for the hours we spent writing.

The first time we realised that we had made some money from the ads, we were absolutely buzzing, and it was right before Christmas too!

Well, this week I checked and we still have just over £110 to claim! Every little does help, doesn’t it?

Complete surveys to make and save money

Needless to say, I spend a lot of time on the computer. I love that I always have something to do. And each day is different and that adds to the fun of it, so blogging isn’t boring and repetitive.

Some of my planned tasks include making Pinterest images, writing posts, spending time engaging on social media and researching.

I do give myself a break sometimes and I use the app Pomodoro to set myself a given amount of time to complete a task and then to take a break. This really helps to keep me focused and avoid distractions.

During my breaks, I can choose to text a friend, check emails, or even hang out the washing. Recently though, I have been leaving the tabs up for some of the survey sites and completing surveys online. I then transfer the cash earned to my Paypal account. My favourite to use is Prolific Academic and this week I cashed out almost £140. Check it out and you can start making some money too.

Become a micro influencer to make and save money

I used to see and admire some bloggers and wonder how they get to work with so many brands! Their faces and stories are always there when I scroll through Instagram and Twitter and now, I am one of them.

Brands seek to work with me and other micro influencers for a number of reasons:

  • We are genuine
  • We have built up a following of people who trust us and know that we believe in the products/services
  • while most of us are not quite celebrities, we bring a fresh perspective to the product or service we advertise

So these are some of the reasons sensible brands reach out to us, to get their brand more visible out there.

Signing up with a blogger outreach service has helped us to secure brands to work with in paid collaborations that benefit both parties immensely.

So far, these are some of the brands we have been privileged to work with:

  • Aldi
  • Simply Be
  • Pink Clove
  • Tropical Sun
  • Simbrix

I get dozens of letters each week from brand representatives who want to work with us. Of course, we only work with the ones we have a genuine interest in and where the collaboration will be mutually beneficial. I secured £150 pounds for one such collaboration today.

Work for other bloggers to make and save some money

It no secret that we love writing. Being teachers, that is almost a given. Some people like the idea of running a blog but not necessarily researching and writing up the blog posts.

Well, we do offer our services as paid writers and can adjust our writing styles to suit the tones and voices of other bloggers. This gives us the opportunity to extend ourselves and get paid for doing what we love.

We also run other people’s Pinterest accounts as a side job. I find it quite easy, quick and fun to create Pinterest images for blog posts while some people don’t. So, for £20 I create 5 images. Uploading the images and pinning to boards, is a separate cost.

Check out and follow my Pinterest account here.

Here are some of my boards that are open to new contributors.

Sponsored Post Opportunities

This is one way that brands seek to get their name out there in order to widen their reach. My blog offers the perfect platform for ALMOST anyone wanting to maximize their online presence.

Currently, my fee is £150 for a sponsored post detailing my knowledge and or experience of a brand/product/service.

So yes, I am making use of my status as an influencer and I am proud to make my living working from home.

If you do already have a blog and are wondering if you can start making money,

  1. sign up to Get Blogged and become a paid influencer today
  2. Even if your readership is small, apply for Adsense ads and get paid to have them on your site
  3. make use of what you’re good at (eg writing and creating graphics) and get paid too.

What about you? Are you still harboring the dream of making money blogging? Wake up, and make it a reality. We have and we have every confidence that you can too.
