Pure Bliss – Our Word of the Week

This post may contain affiliate links

So, on our Youtube channel, we are always talking about holidays and traveling because to be perfectly honest, we really do love traveling. So we told our subscribers last week that we would be going on holiday this week. There was one thing that we did not tell them and that is that 2 of our subscribers would be on the trip with us! So imagine their surprise when we went ‘live’ on the channel with our two surprise subscribers in tow! It has been such a blessing and that is why we have decided to sum up this week as ‘Pure Bliss’.

Have you noticed anything about us? Yes! Our hairstyles are different. We are wearing wigs! Hope you like it! We do!

The Location

We are in serene surroundings in Northampton – Billing Aquadrome! There is lush greenery, lakes, ducks, geese, and other birds as well as good-natured families who come away to soak up nature and spend time together, hopefully without too much interference from the internet. There are lots of opportunities for lots of outdoor activities and sports including a gladiator-like course. As we are not adrenaline junkies, we have loved taking in the nature of the surroundings mostly and watching people as they go by.

There are various types of accommodation available including caravans, tents, pods, and lodges. You can choose to use electricity or not, rent a tent or caravan or bring your own. There are shower stalls and toilet stations for those in tents and pods. In addition, there are lots of places to catch fish and lots of areas for bbq-ing too.

Our Accommodation

We chose to rent one of the new gold lodges. It is beautiful and in it, there was everything that we needed (except for a food processor or blender and a grater). There are 2 bedrooms with ample sleeping space for 4 people. There is a sectional sofa in the living room, part of which can be doubled as a bed. The well-equipped kitchen came with a standard-size cooker and fridge freezer. All the usual amenities were there.

Daily Activities

When I say, it has been bliss, I really mean it has been bliss. We took enough food to cater for the first two days and so we went shopping one day, for all the other essentials we would need.

We let our internal body clock wake us up whenever, and most days that was after 8:00 am. After the usual pleasantries, we would shower and get ready for the day. Breakfast making and eating were next followed right away by worship. It would be remiss on our part to be in such beautiful nature and not acknowledge The One who created this wonderful world. Our focus this week too, has been on how we should be when we go through trials and tests and challenges. And we were reminded by a passage of scripture that says: For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you. Isa 41:13. was so reassuring and we tried to remind each other of that daily.

We played card games (Uno) and dominoes. We went for a spa session in the town. That was so so good! I fell asleep whilst the massage was going on!  We cooked and ate really delicious food, we laughed, we walked and danced too. We played music that was sweet to the ears and we also tried to keep up with our favourite Youtubers. Summertime is really the best.

We were also able to go live on our YouTube channel with our subscribers. They were excited to know that 2 of them were with us and some expressed the wish to be here with us.

One thing we really wanted to do that we did not get to do was fishing.

The one Little Kink

I was very much looking forward to fishing, and I was of the view that you could catch, clean, and cook your catch. Well, for one, I forgot my fishing equipment! Then we were delighted to find that there was a bait and tackle shop on site. That was no good to hear as then the fishing manager of the complex said we had to unhook the hook from the mouth of the fish and put them back in the water. I don’t like the idea of that at all. Plus I think my reward for catching the fish should be that I am allowed to eat it. But other than that, everything has been perfect bliss.

We only have a few more days here and so we are soaking it all up, sun and all. Soon, we will have to go back to our regular lives and although to be fair, it is okay. We hope you have had an amazing week too. Thanks to Ann for allowing us each week to sum up our week and give you a chance to read about our experience which this week has been pure bliss.
